Here we go again.

With the new farm bill. This is an article on NPR about it. http://www.npr.org/2013/06/11/189546445/how-the-senate-farm-bill-would-change-subsidies We have a saying here in farm land Illinois. When a baby is born and cries right away, you know it to be a farmer. Everything they do is subsidized. Insurance on their crops. Do we get insurance subsidies on out houses, our cars, our life or our health. Hell no.

The sky is falling - the sky is falling. Being a farmer means to know how to budget and be prepared for the bad years. But the real problem is that all the subsidies go to the big agribusiness people. Owned by people who could not tell a kernel of corn from a shoat. They don't even really farm any more. They are a corporation that produces a product that is genetically engineered that they like to call corn and soy beans. And then they sit back, fold their arms and say "we feed the world". I say bullshit.

"The Senate farm bill expands that insurance program and is projected to cost $89 billion over the next decade." It should save that much in the next year. It is so bogus. And these guys talk about "cash flow projection" and just being able to make it. Again, I say, bullshit. If these giants in agriculture can't manage cash flow projections, they should be out of the business. This whole program was set up to protect the little guy many years ago. Someone looked at it and saw a way to make a buck without having to do anything. All this crying is done in their Cadillac pickup trucks, which they get to right off on their taxes over a 3-5 year period and then just go get a new one. And they never use these trucks. Or they use helicopters if they happen to be raising some kind of open range stock, which you almost don't see anymore.

The other part of the bill is the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). Now there is where we need to cut benefits. Sarcasmy thing. Lets cut aid to poor people. What we hear is the Reagan "welfare queen" crap. Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. Just because a few people take advantage of the system is no reason to stop it. Take a look at just Walmart workers who are forced to be on Medicaid because those SOBs won't pay a living wage, so the Waltons can make a living wage for millions.
