One point that might be worth noting:

Edward Snowden did not personally profit from his decision. In fact, the opposite.

He could have put everything on the Internet. He could have offered the information up to the highest bidder. He could have offered it to another country, like China or Russia. He could have profited greatly from this information. He chose not to do any of those things. He acted out of conscience. That is something we should not disregard.
