1. Getting hit here in Silver Spring now. And sun was out moments before, too.
Good thing this isn't rush hour in DC. The city would grind to a halt.

2. Finally, some winter weather excitement around here!
(I'm about 30mins SE of Richmond)
It's just showing as line of medium to dark green rain over Richmond on the weather map, but the sky here is half bright, half foreboding. edit: on the Intellicast map, anyway. CBS6 weather station shows yellow and red in the line. |

5. Funny I checked out weather.com an hour ago ....
and it looked like it was dissipating in the Mountains (we usually only get snow coming up from the south) and then suddenly this... WOW

6. Sounds great
I was planning an 8 mile run tomorrow.
BTW- how much snow do you need on the ground for xcountry skiing? |

9. 5" minimum is the amount of snow
for decent x-country skiing. Where we live, there are alot of exposed tree roots and rocks, so it's nice to have that depth to minimize the risk of "tripping" over the obstructions.
It's better if it's powdery too ![]() |

7. Same here in Baltimore...
It was just a little cloudy and almost warm. I started out with the dog, & noticed black clouds coming in from the northwest. The dog turned right around (which is unusual for her) & headed home. 10 minutes later I look out the window & it's snowing like crazy.
