So if the NSA can listen to anything I say in the privacy of my own home...

Then I want to hear what the President has to say in the privacy of his. Or for that matter what he talks about in the privacy of his briefing room or oval office. Bug and tap the shit out of the whole fucking White House, the people who created and formed this government are concerned that malfeasance is occurring behind sealed curtains and we would like to make sure that this sort of thing is monitored and corrected immediately when and if malfeasance occurs; especially since our government is the most dangerous and heavily armed entity in the world.

Sound crazy, illicit and far fetched. Yes it does. Just wanted to check and reaffirm that I am still merely a peon and one of the many powerless, who no longer has rights protected by the Constitution, but rather limited rights as seen through the eyes of the government.

US phone records. Of course they may not be listening to your phone calls, if you believe them, but they are tracking your phone calls and all of this could just be the tip of the ice berg.

8. Right because monitoring phone calls and tracking phone calls is just a vast difference.

Of course let me guess, the President told the media "No one is listening to your phone calls" and you were relieved. You probably went right back to your daily routine and never have given it a second thought. Of course why should give what the President said on TV any second thought, it's not like he has ever lied before. What's appalling is that you and people like you seem to believe that anything the government tells you is true. That to me is frightening that people like that, with that kind of mindset, exist.

BTW, my OP was tongue and cheek and I not to be a serious analogy, but rather to compare how the government views your privacy and how normal citizens are willing to give the Government more and more "freedom" to take away even more privacy. Of course the people who could be abusing this power, would never themselves have to worry about their privacy being violated.

No I wasn't, because I already knew that, because I pay attention.

Try it sometime.

15. So you're saying the ability to do wiretapping is something new?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the NSA has had that ability since its inception. Wiretapping actually pre-dates the existence of the National Security Agency.
