http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2013/06/12/2141671/bridenstine-obama-climate-apology/?mobile=ncJust as extreme weather season kicks off, freshman Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) demanded that President Obama apologize to Oklahoma for allocating funding to climate change research. Bridenstine, a climate denier who serves on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, plans to introduce a bill that defunds climate change research.
Even climate change alarmists admit the number of hurricanes hitting the U.S. and the number of tornado touchdowns have been on a slow decline for over 100 years, Bridenstine said on the House floor Tuesday, according to Raw Story. But here is what we absolutely know. We know that Oklahoma will have tornadoes when the cold jet stream meets the warm Gulf air, and we also know that this President spends 30 times as much money on global warming research as he does on weather forecasting and warning. For this gross misallocation, the people of Oklahoma are ready to accept the Presidents apology and I intend to submit legislation to fix this.
Bridenstine also recently accused Obama of dishonesty, incompetence, vengefulness in an unhinged speech on the House floor.

(12,265 posts)I live in Oklahoma, there are lots of reasonable people here but I am convinced they don't vote because they think they are outnumbered by the people who talk to themselves and answer themselves. I see small instances of change here, getting this nutcase out of office would be a start!

(10,951 posts)conclusion that being bat sh*t crazy is a requirement in order for a Republican to be voted into office.
It is hard to get motivated to vote because the right wing hacks keep voting the most crazy people into office. It is insane that people don't rise up and vote the crazies out of office, particularly when you consider a lot of the bills they introduce at the state house. I cannot wait until the day comes that Sally Kern is term limited out of office. OMG the bills that Kern has been involved in!
Remember that it took a citizen initiated petition in order to get a state question on the ballot to outlaw cockfighting in Oklahoma? [And there were county sheriffs who stated publicly that they would not enforce the law if the state question passed? There was one guy at the Capital that tried to introduce legislation to overturn the ban on cockfighting every single session until he was finally term limited out.] And the state legislature added a state question to the same ballot to change the rules on the number of signatures needed for any future petitions relating to animal protection issues?
Politics and government here in Oklahoma positively make me cringe.

(41,832 posts)The first district had a rubber-stamp quiet conservative before this loon. He was defeated in the primary. I couldn't stand John Sullivan, but compared to this guy he was a jewel. Word is that even Democrats admit that at least Sullivan was good with constituent issues and had a good staff. Gossip is that Bridensteine doesn't care, is rude and his staff is a mess.
