Releasing the transcripts of interviews with Internal Revenue Service workers who scrutinized Tea Party groups would be reckless, the chairman of the U.S. House Oversight Committee wrote today.
Your push to release entire transcripts from witness interviews while the investigation remains active was reckless and threatened to undermine the integrity of the committees investigation, chairman Darrell Issa, a Republican, wrote to Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the panels top Democrat.
Cummings has said he will release transcripts of interviews with IRS employees by the end of this week if Issa wont. Cummings said that in one interview, a self-identified conservative Republican said the effort to scrutinize Tea Party groups was done to ensure consistency and that there wasnt White House or political involvement.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa put on a clinic in rudeness Tuesday, releasing a letter to ranking member Elijah Cummings thats essentially a three-page insult, calling Cummings reckless, irresponsible and obstructionist for releasing the transcript of an interview in which an IRS manager said there was no evidence the White House was involved in Tea Party targeting, and telling CNNs Candy Crowley that the case is solved.
Issa writes:
Your decision to make that declaration in a very public way was irresponsible and emblematic of your general aversion to conducting meaningful oversight of the Administration. In fact, any time the Committee endeavors to engage in such an effort, your participation is generally limited to obstructing or criticizing the process, if you decide to participate at all. I urge you to adopt a more responsible approach.
In the letter, Issa goes back on his own promise to Crowley the whole transcript will be put out, which he made after she called him on his evidence-free claims that directions to target the Tea Party groups for extra scrutiny emanated from Washington. Now he tells Cummings that releasing transcripts of the committees interviews with IRS staff and managers would needlessly jeopardize the integrity of the investigation and hamper the Committees ability to get to the truth.
-------
Cummings was not expected to quote the truth - he was supposed to let Issa and other ReTHUGs continue to invent their scandal.

(5,279 posts)Your decision to make that declaration in a very public way (what da fuck you thinking! telling the pissants what we, the specials, decide for them) was irresponsible and emblematic of your general aversion (utter refusal) to conducting meaningful oversight (helping us crucify) of the Administration . In fact, any time the Committee endeavors to engage in such an effort (every time we get enough pitchforks and torches), your participation is generally limited to obstructing (you hide them) or criticizing the process (There is no such thing as a national standard pitchfork, I checked), if you decide to participate at all (when you even talk to the rest of us). I urge you to adopt a more responsible approach (come on....please...we don't look so racist if we get one of you black guys to pose in the picture with us).

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) compromised the identities of several Libyans working with the U.S. government and placed their lives in danger when he released reams of State Department communications Friday, according to Obama administration officials...
But Issa didn't bother to redact the names of Libyan civilians and local leaders mentioned in the cables, and just as with the WikiLeaks dump of State Department cables last year, the administration says that Issa has done damage to U.S. efforts to work with those Libyans and exposed them to physical danger from the very groups that had an interest in attacking the U.S. consulate...
One of the cables released by Issa names a woman human rights activist who was leading a campaign against violence and was detained in Benghazi. She expressed fear for her safety to U.S. officials and criticized the Libyan government.
"This woman is trying to raise an anti-violence campaign on her own and came to the United States for help. She isn't publicly associated with the U.S. in any other way but she's now named in this cable. It's a danger to her life," the administration official said.

Botany
(70,490 posts).... Issa can release the transcripts that show that their is nothing there and that
he was just cherry picking quotes or he can withhold them and Cummings will drop
the hammer on him and make him look even worse. But sadly the media will not
follow up and hold Issa's feet to the fire ..... look @ Issa's "fast and furious" investigation
in which he tried to make Eric Holder the bad guy and in the end Issa was exposed as a liar
nothing happened to him.

There's the anti-immigration crowd in the House we'll be hearing from soon, the Trent Franks who consider women as chattle and an entire party that hates not only the President because he's a "coloured fella" but all Democrats. It's the glue that holds this corrupt and inept party and one that Issa is playing like a violin.
He's not out to "investigate" and the fool has all but said so...but the great unhinged don't pay no mind. They want dirt and don't care how it's done. They're cheering him on every lie of the way. This so reminds me of Disco Danny Burton and his attempts to find something/anything on President Clinton. Sadly releasing the transcripts, while making Issa look the fool yet again, will be passed off by the corporate media who want the raw meat to fill tons of airtime until some new bright shiny toy comes along.
