Nasty person at Dunkin' Donuts

A truly nasty person went off on some innocent Dunkin Donuts employees;

A Florida woman filmed and shared a video over the weekend featuring a first-person view of her screaming racist insults at Dunkin’ Donuts workers in Fort Lauderdale, Florida over a request for free food that was not immediately granted.

The woman, identified by The Smoking Gun as 27-year-old Taylor Chapman, visited the eatery a night prior and demanded to have her meal price refunded when her cashier was slow to hand over a receipt. Another associate asked her to return the next morning and speak with a manager, which supposedly led to the confrontation seen on the video.

“This shit’s about to go live, bitch!” Chapman screams at a female employee. “Right on Facebook, ’cause I already posted what your dumb ass did last night, so I hope you’re happy with your little fucking sand n—er self… I’m about to nuke your whole fucking planet from Mars. You think ya’ll are tough, big fat Arabs bombin’ the trade center? I’ll show you tough.”

She also called the employee “a complete cunt sand n—er whore,” and shouted: “I just want my bacon crispy and my people to be nice.” Chapman is even heard on the video wishing the footage gets “a million fucking hits,” which is likely a low estimate of the views it will get thanks to all the media attention since Monday.

And Chapman filmed herself doing this, so she only has herself to blame for any future career or educational problems.

I'm not trying to put you down, have you worked for a big fast food corporation? Or another type of very large, but full of low skill level position? It's not uncommon for people in those types of jobs to get in trouble for the stupidest of things.

They could've decided that the crew should have called in a higher manager, or that the young women behind the counter was not apologetic enough, or that she should have gone into the back room while this went down. They could have caved to the harasser and disciplined or fired the employee, or disciplined the whole team for "allowing" the irate woman to shout obscenities in the store and pester other customers. Or videotaping may be prohibited in the store and they could call them on it.

I think they did the best they could with the circumstances they had, and I'm just glad that in this case, the management seems to agree.

If you really think there is a claim and that DD is not a public place go to the internet and type in your city name and 'personal injury attorneys'. Tell them you had your photo taken at a DD and want to file a suit. Using a stopwatch see how fast they hang up on you.

You imply that you have special knowledge and know that a donut shop is more than a private place to buy donuts and coffee, you imply that you've taken a one-year Tort class (or that you wish to do so).

Your special knowledge appears to be that you know that some people have not believed you and will not believe you. That obviously comes from experience. I don't care about such experience. If you have a cite to a case in which a court found that a donut shop is more than a private place to buy donuts and coffee, post it. It's either true or not true.

An attorney made such a claim would be able to post such a cite to support a true assertion if any such cite existed. Even a well-educated law-student, attorney-wannabe could do that. Since you have not done so, the obvious answer is that you cannot.

a "public place" generally includes restaurants and any place open to the general public, whether publicly or privately owned.
...

The following is an example of a state law defining public places for smoking laws:

"Public place" means any enclosed indoor area used by the general public or serving as a place of work containing two hundred fifty or more square feet of floor space, including, but not limited to, all restaurants with a seating capacity greater than fifty, all retail stores, lobbies and malls, offices, including waiting rooms, and other commercial establishments; public conveyances with departures, travel, and destination entirely within this state; educational facilities; hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and other health care and medical facilities; and auditoriums, elevators, theaters, libraries, art museums, concert halls, indoor arenas, and meeting rooms. "Public place" does not include a retail store at which fifty percent or more of the sales result from the sale of tobacco or tobacco products, the portion of a retail store where tobacco or tobacco products are sold, a private, enclosed office occupied exclusively by smokers even though the office may be visited by nonsmokers, a room used primarily as the residence of students or other persons at an educational facility, a sleeping room in a motel or hotel, or each resident's room in a health care facility. The person in custody or control of the facility shall provide a sufficient number of rooms in which smoking is not permitted to accommodate all persons who desire such rooms.

If you invite the public in it is a public place like it or not. This sub thread started when someone said that if you were filmed inside a DD that you could sue. You can't sue. You are in a public place without any expectation of privacy.

this hateful ignorant entitled bitch is in public relations, believe it or not. Or, at least, she was, because I simply cannot imagine any public relations agency, (or any employer, for that matter) wanting to keep her on staff after seeing this. And if I were an admissions person at a college or educational institution, I certainly wouldn't want her as a student, either. But she filmed it herself and brought it totally and completely on herself. Bed. Made. Lie.

more than enough such ignorant troglodytes still around. Like the hateful Tennessee townspeople who booed and heckled the federal prosecutor who tried to explain why actions against Muslims were being prosecuted as hate crimes, and who cheered when a Muslim activist mentioned the recent arson burning down of a mosque at the same meeting. I had to check my calendar after hearing that audio on NPR.

Her best-known gig was as a spokesperson on ultra low-budget YouTube commercials for tiny local businesses. Ironically, one of them was a Chinese fast food joint.

And I'my pretty sure that what loosely passes for her career is now over. Too bad she burned her bridges at Dunkin Donuts.

But when I worked there management was clear on the point - we did not have to take any SHIT from people visiting the store. We had to do the best we could but if a person crossed the line into abusiveness we did not have to take it. If someone became verbally abusive then they were done and management made it clear that such people would be invited to leave and never return.

Makes about as much sense as their constant flag waving and claims to being the "real patriots" and "God bless the USA", etc., yet at the same time bashing the gubmint', waving Confederate flags, constantly re-enacting the Civil War, and dismissing two-thirds of the nation as not being "real" Americans.

That's not to say, of course, that there isn't plenty of racist, bigoted ignorance to go around for the whole country, including the North.

A term used by upper and middle class whites to refer to poor whites, who are just as inferior to them as poor blacks are; indeed, I've almost always heard the phrase as "poor white trash" to bring the point home.

In the South it's usually descendants of white slaveholders dissing descendants of white non-slaveholders. Who have always been trash because they never had plantations and slaves.
