Pelosi preparing fact sheet on how Bush, Obama surveillance programs differ

This is going to anger all the people that say Obama = Bush.

Thank you, Congresswoman Pelosi:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday said she’s preparing a fact sheet for Democrats on the differences between President Obama’s and President George W. Bush’s spying activities.

<...>

She noted that Bush had acted unilaterally while Obama secured an order from a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court, and said the fact sheet would highlight for her members those differences – an indication that the Democrats intend to hammer home the distinctions between the two administrations when it comes to executive oversight.

She also reiterated her calls to strengthen a long-dormant government panel, the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, which is designed to ensure that the NSA's surveillances activities don't encroach too far on civil liberties.

“We have to have the balance between liberty and security,” she said.

This is an important point. Bush was engaged in warrantless wiretapping. The Obama Administration attained a warrant from the FISA court.

From Obama is listening to every single call in the country, to NSA dots in the box are unconstitutional.

Rogers defended the collection of data on Americans, saying, “If you’re going to connect the dots on a 9/11-style event .?.?. you have to have dots in the box in order to connect.”

I wonder where the goal post will land after the fact sheet is released.
