it's so interesting the way you do that about every single thing you don't like that the administration does- you automatically absolve the President.

If the president of the United States does not have the gumption to stand up for the citizens of the U.S., or make decisions that benefit and protect the U.S., he has no business being the president.

If he is afraid, he should resign.

Being the president of the U.S. can at times be very dangerous.

This is his second term.

He knows exactly what he is doing.

...when we don't have troops on the ground, and I don't see that happening. Firstly...what the hell is a "legal" war? Maybe a "just" one...but from where I come from war is the ultimate madness...thus it can never be morally legal. This is a nasty civil war that has already seen 90,000 people die and the longer it goes on the more people will die...sarin or not.

For decades the Assads have operated a police state that not only has been an occupying force inside Lebanon and this ugly war has a very strong chance of reigniting that ugly war as well. Just like with Saddam Hussein and Moamar Ghadaffi...the moment Assad is gone the future of Syria will be brighter. The U.S. didn't start this war, the people in Syria did...we're, hopefully, going to provide support for those people to finally get rid of their despot. I felt the U.S. did the right thing in Libya when they helped the insurgents and I see a similar scenario here.

Also...I'm not too worried about Jebbie at this point. I do want him to run in '16...along with Christie...they split the "rational" republican vote and we'll end up with a Cruz or Paulbot Jr. as their nominee. Jebbie may have the support of the party establishment but he'll get cut to pieces in the primaries. That I'll also enjoy watching...

...they're "creaming in their dockers" about Iran. They see Syria as a puppet state...thus the proxy war. If anything, the pre-occupation with Benghazi and now Syria is taking the pressure off the drumbeat for attacks by both the U.S. and Israel against Iran's nuclear reactors.

Keep in mind the neo-cons may want their wars but right now there's a big roadblock in their way...Chuck Hagel. They put up a strong opposition to him for a reason. The neo-cons may want war but the military is in no condition to wage one...thanks to the sequester!!

Their isn't any one specific rebel group, and the largest couple among them are tied in with Al Qaeda. Those two should never be the recipient of any help from us, ever.

We're told The Free Syrian Army has attacked Christian villages and enganged in rape, pillage, looting, and desecration of churches, these were villages that were not combatants. These are the good guys? These people are worthy of our aid? There are repeated incidents of rebel groups murdering POWs and non-combatants. They made and posted the videos of these acts.

Should the rebels win what then will replace the government in Syria? The regime in Tunisia will succumb to the Islamic fundementalist elements that attack it daily, the police their are game, but they can't hold out forever. The regime in Egypt is hostile to the US. The regime in Libya is highly suspect and doesn't have any real control of the country. The third time wasn't the charm. The fourth time won't be.

It was forces loyal to Assad that liberated the Christian villages. Assad may not be a "good guy" but he is logically better than the people his regime is fighting.

...and I'm not in agreement with any U.S. involvement in these types of situations unless it's one that can lead to a quick resolution of hostilities. The problems with this civil war is that it is such a fractured one...and that there are atrocities on all sides. The situation here is sitting back and prolonging the killing or tip the balance and bring a closer end to it.

As far as the fears of a "radical Islamic government" turning Syria into some feudal state...it's not gonna be much better than what exists right now. Right now you have a bloodletting go on...there are few good options here.
