(39,171 posts)Greece survived for years borrowing money. Doesn't matter how much they riot - they can't force people to lend them money.

(4,578 posts)Promise perpetual goodies and stuff, but eventually you have to spend other people's money. Is that what you are sayin?
Perpetual motion has never been discovered; as has perpetual paid for dependency as a success. Sometimes you run out of payers. Well in this case, some have profited and they need to pay their fair share I am sure.

which are skimpy at best on Sunday.

(39,171 posts)why is this earth shattering news anyway - the fall of Greece has been well documented over the past year. Perhaps it is has become so common that it is no longer news worthy.

chat forum. maybe I should check it out myself.
If they are blacking out, I'd guess it's because they don't want for the news
to "incite" something similar here.

(8,020 posts).... but people without hope and people who watch their future disappear are sometimes irrational.
I'm sure they feel the Greek government is taking out their frustrations on the people, so the people are just returning the favor.

Greece is like that deadbeat, mooching family member who gets really mad when you tell him he finally has to start supporting himself.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) Rioting spread across central Athens and at least seven buildings went up in flames amid mass protests late Sunday, as lawmakers debated harsh cutbacks demanded to keep the country solvent and within the eurozone.
TV footage showed a three-story corner building completely engulfed in flames with riots officers on the street and firefighters trying to douse the blaze. The buildings set ablaze included a bank, a mobile phone dealership, a glassware store and a cafeteria, the fire department said. It was not immediately clear whether there was anyone inside the burning buildings.
Clashes erupted across the city center after more than 100,000 protesters marched to parliament to rally against drastic austerity cuts that will force firings in the civil service and slash the minimum wage.
Riot police fired dozens of tear gas volleys to clear the streets around parliament of rioting youths, who attacked them with firebombs, fireworks and chunks of marble smashed off the fronts of luxury hotels, banks and department stores.
Authorities said several protesters and police were injured, while an unspecified number of suspected rioters were detained.
