Girl Rising - tonight at 9 pm EST

Tonight is the television debut of the new highly acclaimed "Girls Rising" documentary at 9 pm EST! This groundbreaking film about the impact of educating girls that “tells the stories of 9 extraordinary girls from 9 countries, written by 9 celebrated writers and narrated by 9 renowned actresses, including Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington, Alicia Keys, and Selena Gomez.”

It’s astonishing but true that there are 33 million fewer girls in primary school than boys, according to the UN initiative 'Education First'. The film is part of the 10x10 - Girl Rising campaign to reach global audiences and inspire individuals to take action for girls. The film aims to "showcase the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world.”

Viewers in the US can see the broadcast on CNN on June 16 at 9 pm EST. For those outside of the US, the film will premiere on CNN International on Saturday 22 June at 2000 BST / 2100 CET and Sunday 23 June at 0200 BST / 0300 CET and 1400 BST / 1500 CET.

My wife took a group of young girls from our neighborhood to see it at a local theater a few months ago and they had a great conversation about it on the way home. I'm looking forward to seeing it, so thanks for posting this.
