"There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM and ITT and A T & T and DuPont..."

"There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM and ITT and A T & T and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today."

"We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. Beale. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable by-laws of business. The world is a business, Mr. Beale! It has been since man crawled out of the slime."

Anyone here believe that thats how most powerful people in business and politics believe? Especially with things like the Trans Pacific Partnership being negotiated, and the constant bending over backwards for big corporations in Washington, and the worship of free trade by Washington despite how it harms America and other nations? Even if it isn't yet, that's certainly an intention of the big corporations, to get more power than governments. This kind of thinking, along with the global scope of many corporations nowadays would explain why "American" big corporations don't give a shit about the health and wellbeing of the United States and its people.

Also the 99% is not just those who live in the USA. It's 99% of the world that is being used, abused, and ripped off.

One of the most important speeches ever written.

Paddy Chayefsky would not laugh at what we've become, a supine nation that allows its children to be used as cannon fodder and its riches to be hoarded by the wealthy.

Witness the ruling by the USSC yesterday, Citizens United, protesters being labelled "terrorists", etc. Every day there is a mountain of evidence that they've already taken over. There is no "YET".

It is DONE.

Much like feudalism and slavery, capitalism has run its course and is destroying what is left of America and democracy.

Unless we get out from under capitalism, we will be ruled by a handful of elite uber rich people much like we were ruled by kings and masters.

“I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country.”

-- Thomas Jefferson

As old Tom would say today...."Good luck getting the corporations out of government without another revolution."
