I put this post in GD rather than the lounge because I find the content to be so pertinent to today's issues. It amazes me that we had a character like Picard on television not so long ago, and that he was addressing problems we now face well before they actually manifested. Star Trek, as a series, was visionary.
And as a bonus, something else I like. This is about a Q who wants to commit suicide, but his people keep him imprisoned in order to prevent that (they believe themselves immortal, and so death would fundamentally change their culture). However, the line itself is relevant to us in some obvious ways ...
