Instant "Garage Sale" this weekend............Sold Yellow Land Line Phone!

Really bizarre Saturday.

Neighbor was having Garage Sale...and called us to let us know if there was anything we had we would want to put out...so she could get more BUZZ for her sale.

We went into our "Cave" of Garage...and started to work to see if there was anything that we could get rid of that we could put out in our driveway (with minimum effort) that would be "usable" to folks other than the Charities we usually donate our "Stuff" to. I told my partner that that "YELLOW PHONE" was Campy! ...That Someone would LOVE IT! It was so UNUSUAL. He gave me the "Evil, Quizzical Eye" and said...OKAY.."Put it Out There!"

So we spentFriday Night going through Garage and the "Stuff." It was Old Beach Chairs (taking up some part of our Garage..a Cordless Weed Whacker, Baskets, Tents Kids had Used, Vases and other Glass Jar, Lamps, Large Mirrors from Family (estate stuff), Curio Cabinets (solid maple wood from old days) that also were part of legacy estate stuff from relatives...and other stuff we collected from our "departed relatives," through the years...because we are the "Historians" of our family...who care about that kind of stuf.

BUT...it was the Yellow Phone (Punch Dial) that got the MOST INTEREST. We had that one up for the "Recycle Electronics Pick Up" by our city for it's once a month efforts to divest us of ALL OUR OLD ELECTRONICS.

I have a love for that "Ole Yellow Punch Button Phone" and good memories of it...I didn't want it to go to the Death of Recycle..(because they crash it in a dump truck run by our City and sell it off to China or other countries who take our "Dumped Waste) and so I kept it...figuring that it would be disposed of when I died..in an estate sale.

Making a long story shorter: That phone got all kinds of people saying: "I never saw anything like that...what is it? ...and other older folks coming in saying...I thought those kind of phones were "all gone." Others said..."Can it still work?" and others said: "How do you use it...it isn't a Rotary Phone..that we know is old...so What is It?"

Some guy who looked in his late 40's came along and picked up the "Yellow Phone" and said. "Wow! This is Cool".. "haven't seen one of these in years and what do you want for it?"

We said: "2 Bucks" ...he said "TAKEN!" I was thrilled that my Campy "Yellow Phone" has another HOME for AWHILE...with someone who Appreciated It! (it's good)

What are the Rest of You Seeing in your "Yard Sales/Garage Sales" so far this Spring/Summer?

I like it because it still works when the power goes out.

I've been in my apartment so long it's hardwired into the wall. I'd probably get rid of it if I wasn't afraid of electrocuting myself by trying to "unwire" it & it's just too expensive to have the phone company do it. Besides, it makes my nieces and nephews crazy that I still have a phone like that.

I got it for my 16th birthday in '77. So far it's lived in CA, FL, TX, WA, and OK. It used to look SOOO cool with my Koss headphones and Wayfarer sunglasses. It's in a box full of Styrofoam peanuts. Hasn't seen the light of day in years. I'd NEVER sell it. My Mom got it at the GTE Company Store.

in some retro Play or Drama about the Early 1980's! I loved that phone...it was in a room with Blues and Yellows...and it was "part of that time" where stuff like that was fun.

I'm so glad that phone has a good home...and it seems in "caring hands."

I know this sounds weird....but, "things like that" are kind of important to some of us who have good memories wrapped up around them.

Whatever....

and in it is a working wall mounted rotary dial phone.
The owner tells me that every so often kids and even young adults come in and ask her about it,
but they cannot figure out, on their own, how to work it.

but assume the little ones go to bed with "Apple I-Phones" in Mock Up....

I wonder...I've not seen any photos but bet the Kardashian Kids and all their coming babies will have that kind of thing. And, it's how times change...and it's about the "MORPH"...so not bad...just change.

action lawsuit after the break-up due to the mostly elderly people that
continued to lease because they didn't know they could buy a phone
for hundreds, in some cases thousands less than they had been paying
over the years.

You're was that "harvest gold." LOL. I remember those long tangled cords
that got wrapped around everything. How did we ever live without cell phones?

that it was cheaper than I pay now for Land Line... Add on the Internet...and it's WAY/WAY more.

So...the trade off didn't help "Ma & Pa" the way you think it did. Just saying.....
