It's going to be a long, hot, noisy Summer. (Original Post) bemildred Jun 2013 OP
I don't mind long & hot. Noisy can be bothersome. Nt xchrom Jun 2013 #1

I'll go nuts if I pay attention, and I'll feel like I'm disloyal or lazy or something if I tune it all out.

But with Syria and Snowden and more to come next week from USSC and I COULD go on, it's going to be messy.

Full tilt bozo. Maybe the most interesting election of my lifetime, from the point of view of party politics.

And there seems to be parallels in the plot...

The plot follows the conflicts of the Varner family after ambitious drifter Ben Quick (Paul Newman) arrives in their small Mississippi town. Will Varner (Orson Welles), the family's patriarch and the owner of most of the town, has doubts about the abilities of his only son, Jody (Anthony Franciosa), and sees Ben as a better choice to inherit his position. Will therefore tries to push Ben and his daughter Clara (Joanne Woodward) into marriage. Clara is initially reluctant to court Ben, and Jody senses that Ben threatens his position.

Just keep your humor about ya, and you'll be fine

So the next time it shows up on TCM, I'll have to watch it. I love Paul Newman's and Joanne Woodward's performances

My granddaughters like this, it's pretty good I think, better than some of the stuff their mother used to like.
