Predictions on SCOTUS and the Prop 8/DOMA cases.

Prop 8: 6-3 that appellants had no standing and the District Court Ruling goes into effect in CA.
DOMA: 5-4 that Congress may choose to not recognize same-sex marriages.

What do you think?

The court may accept a wrong-headed vote by California citizens and uphold Prop 8. If it upholds Prop 8, it will overturn DOMA because DOMA attempts to force states that have passed gay marriage or civil unions to void votes of citizens or citizen elected legislatures. Even if the court upholds Prop 8, it's defeat on the ballot is a mere matter of time. Maine voters narrowly defeated a gay rights initiative a few years back and turned around two years later and approved the initiative by a wide margin.
