Do you find Snowden's story fishy?

Could he have been paid by a foreign power to get access to this info and then "leak" it? It's causing a whole lot of trouble for a whole lot of people.

This whole thing just doesn't make sense to me. Too orchestrated. Too damaging.

Wow. I just don't trust anyone any more. Can't tell what's real and what is an illusion.

I just find the whole thing really puzzling. Where did this guy really come from? What was his real purpose? And now, where did he go to? Why would someone who was so big on freedom find shelter in China and Russia/

It just makes no sense to me on any level.

What I find highly suspicious is the level of access he claims to have had. It is either an empty boast or definitive proof that our national security apparatus is a sick money-making scheme that is not in the least interested in protecting us.

I do like that this Bush machinery is finally being discussed again. For a while there it looked like the Dems could get away with simply carrying on Bushes "national security strategy". We should have been discussing how to handle Bush's behemoth (and even its pre-Bushian parts) ever since March 2009.

" that our national security apparatus is a sick money-making scheme that is not in the least interested in protecting us."
That has been an established fact since they put Rumsfeld's companies x-ray machines in the airports along with basically an incompetent ( but very chilling inducing) TSA.
notice that non of the non public use transport places have inspections: the ports, container ships, non-passenger jets, the thousands of small planes that use big airports, long haul trucks, trains, etc.
All of the so called 'security" business is focused on being highly visible to the public, for intimidating purposes:
TSA, and highway stop and frisk, militarized police, etc.

Have his documents been shown to not be authentic? Is the gist of what he said is happening not happening? That's what I care about. He could have escaped from prison for a triple ax murder, but if he shows up with some credible info about the NSA spying on Americans I'm going to be very interested in what the NSA has to say and what Congress is going to do about it. I care about his info, not his resume.

I don't know why I'm saying this. It just doesn't seem to get through. People who care about the constitutionality of this mess do.not.care.about.Snowden.

what is real and what is an illusion? If you don't know, then it's good not to trust too much.
Better to be patient than jump to conclusions.

Speculation:

I bet you that Snowden's motivation is NOT money. Which shoots down the theory of "paid by a foreign power." I think he fits the independent, creative personality type who doesn't concede authority to anyone very easily--ie. not a trusting person. If he ever was, he had his mind blown working in intelligence-gathering. Regardless of your opinion about what he's doing, I think it's "what you see is what you get" with Snowden. He seeks to uncover the Big Lie. It's possible that he has been dealing with depression about what he knows, and couldn't live with it. If so the motivation would be validation, psychologically speaking, and relief of a disturbing level of cognitive dissonance. It's not something you can tell a shrink. I know it's hard to imagine that he doesn't care about money, but many people don't. I see him as throwing his fate to the wind.

Just my opinion. Who really knows?

Such as his claim of being in possessions of a NOC-list (I take this term from Mission Impossible because I seriously doubt such a thing really exists).

I don't see any evidence or hints at him being an agent of a foreign power, though. As with most things concerning espionage, though, this is just a "gut feeling" and not an assessment based on full insight into documentary evidence.
