The repulsive republicans are going to cut off Senator Wendy Davis' filibuster

I don't think they'll let her keep going much longer. They're that arrogant.

some asshat repub named Nichols has objected twice saying that she's gone off topic. Both in the last 5 minutes. The first time she got a warning. The second time she didn't.

Nichols just objected again to a question asked by a dem, saying the question asked wasn't about the body of bill. 2nd warning issued but not to Davis to the dem questioner.

Senator Davis is looking so exhausted.

This is appalling.

The poor woman isn't even allowed restroom breaks if she wants to support the filibuster, so she's wearing cushioned running shoes and probably an adult diaper - she needs all the support she can get.

It's at once, a portrait of courage and a portrait of ugly meanness.

If they shut her down, I hope they get huge blowback for it.

Obama has no say on Senate procedure. Nice attempt at blaming him.

Keep at it though. I'm sure your goal of turning 2014 into 2010 will happen if you keep working hard enough.

BTW, *I* don't have to do anything, never mind that I can't (being British). Your admin is doing a damn good job at screwing themselves.

As for me, my next vote is going to MP who has proven anti-war, pro-equal rights record.

In addition, parties are much less rigorous than in the UK - actions against party get one tossed out of parliament. That gets lots of TV time when it's Congress.

a US senator doesn't have to speak at all, he (or she) just has to say they intend to filibuster and that's it. Done deal.

I think in the US senate all they have to do is sign a form and say they're filibustering and then leave the room.

(It's probably not quite as a describe, but that is how I understand it)

22. From wikipedia
Tue Jun 25, 2013, 07:45 PM
Jun 2013
In 1975 the Democratic-controlled Senate[5] revised its cloture rule so that three-fifths of the senators sworn (usually 60 senators) could limit debate, except on votes to change Senate rules, which require two-thirds to invoke cloture.[18][19] The Senate experimented with a rule to remove the need to speak on the floor to filibuster ("talking filibuster&quot , thus allowing for "virtual filibusters".[20]
