Will we hear from Snowden again?

Just curious about DUer's thoughts. The last we heard he was in a Moscow airport, then he wasn't on the flight he had booked. I don't know if he planned this, or if the Russian authorities decided to question him for the information that he might have had.

Or, he could be playing "catch me if you can" and planned to disappear.

So, he could have disappeared as part of his strategy. Or, he could have been "disappeared" because of the Russian authorities. Regardless, do you think we'll hear from him again?

Just curious.

He is undoubtedly surrounded by Wikileaks attorneys. Assange is no dummy, even if Snowden may be a lightweight. There are people who will protect Snowden and there will be protocols in effect to know about any disappearance, or even an attempt to gain access to him.

Putin and company will know about this. And Russian security people would have been advised as well.

What tells me this is that both China (specifically Hong Kong, but also Beijing) and Russia have signaled very specifically and very publicly that they want no involvement and would like nothing better than to see the back side of him.

As long as he stays within passport control at the airport in Moscow he should be safe. If that changes we should know soon enough, although if I were his handlers I would be working furiously to ensure his safety.

Right now, Mr. Snowden is a very hot potato. Nobody wants him. And there's no quick path to get him to some country which will tolerate his presence.

That's the scenerio as I see it. What's reported is basically what's true until we hear differently. Well, maybe not exactly be true, but if Assange says he's safe I believe him.

Then we'll know for certain if they were serious about taking him in, but I doubt it. I don't think anyone wants him now.
