About if a speaker is reading from papers and can they stop it.

But Ellis pointed out that it says if a "papers are called for" then someone can make a point and have the senate vote on stopping the reading of papers. He was asking "what papers have been called for?" The republicans are trying to get her to not be able to use notes.

Dewhurst then asked them to come up, so they're discussing that issue now.

7. A point of order discussion
Tue Jun 25, 2013, 10:01 PM
Jun 2013

Davis has been reading from papers written on topics included in the bill. The opposition is trying to claim that she can't do that. It won't stop her filibuster but it will take away her ability to kill time by reading them.

The point is she has to keep filibustering until midnight CST. then the special session ends and the bill goes dormant without a vote.

It won't be voted on...midnight is the end of the special session. Dumbass Perry will probably call a second special session and put this bill on the agenda though. It maybe a case of the battle won, but lose the war.

Wed Jun 26, 2013, 12:07 AM
Jun 2013

There were two other bills that Dewhurst should have brought up for votes before the filibuster started. Perry will use those two bills and this one to start a second special session.

The dems could filibuster again, BUT the republicans could just as easily bring it up earlier in the special session calendar and not at the very end.

I'm so proud of Wendy Davis! She's awesome. I met her in 2008 when we had a Dem planning meeting. She is soft-spoken but strong in her words and conviction! Go Wendy!
Glad to see the country witness first hand what we put up with in these rwing politicians. Assholes.
