If you mean whomever sent the Tweet, maybe she did. Maybe she's on the phone with whomever did? Sent an email?

There's Internet at the airport in Moscow, after all.

Plus, Putin doesn't want to screw this up. He doesn't need to debrief Snowden and screw up US/Russian relations any worse. There is no extradition treaty with Russia and Putin has deniability as long as Snowden stays within the travel corridor.

I highly suspect that he is accompanied by one or more Wikileaks people who are way more knowledgeable than he is about things.

Putin doesn't need to debrief him when he's already leaking like a sieve.

Simple.

Well, we know he flew there, don't we?

He has had a lot of time since he supposedly landed. He missed the Cuba flight, the one that all the journalist ended up on.

But these Wikileaks guys are probably no dummies. He could be long gone by now.

But regardless, wherever Snowden is, he'd be keeping in contact if only to report safe landing, etc.

My thinking is what Assange is reporting is basically true. I also think that this story has gone far beyond a Greenwald story. (Or I would hope so; I am not a fan.)

Thanks for the response.

Then Russia still gets to be our friend, or something like that.

But if Putin puts the gendarme on Snowden, if the US ever gets hold of him, US will know. Not good for old Pooty-Poo.

Plus, he doesn't have to. As you say, the dude's gonna release it anyway. No need to risk a debrief.

That's why when Putin said he wanted Snowden to leave and that he would not interfere he probably meant it.

Maybe they aren't debriefing him--maybe they're plying him with vodka and copying his hard drives/thumb drives whilst he sleeps it off...?
