Ten officers in the Lakeland Police Department had sex or participated in sexually suggestive behavior with a female civilian employee for years, theledger.com is reporting.
A nearly three-month investigation revealed allegations of forced sex and sharing photos of sex organs but nothing criminal could be proved, State Attorney Jerry Hill said in a critical letter to LPD Chief Lisa Womack, according to the website.
"Had these members of your department been more focused on the important responsibilities of law enforcement, rather than pursuing sexual encounters with a civilian employee, the LPD might not be in the condition it is today,'' the letter said.
