Texas last night was electric

The tweeter sphere was shall we say...incredible. National news media, as usual, missed a local story of national importance, just like Wisconsin and Michigan in the beginning. Hell, they never covered an honest to goodness hunger strike at the end of the line, aka San Diego.

Occupy was covered, in the most negatives of ways.

There are thousands of these short bursts (fracking activists for example) across the country, most of the time barely covered by local news if at all..

Now here is where dot connecting comes in. We are having short bursts of citizen outrage, some successful, last night, some not...the hunger strike, Wisconsin. But the fact is that those muscles are starting to get exercise, after decades of atrophy...which brings me squarely to the NSA...

Occupy was spied on by DHS. This is no longer under debate. We can surmise that DHS used data from Stellar Wind, and occupy was designated a terrorist organization. As we further organize we will see more and more of these tools deployed against the citizens for our own good of course, and to keep us safe from those evil terrorists...terrorists has replaced communist by the way.

This is not about the terrorist from abroad, but us. And it has become a race between a state that like all states are desperate to maintain the current order (this is very much partisan independent) and a people that is starting to exercise rights we mostly have not for used for a while.

Buckle in...it will be a heck of a ride...what is at stake is nothing less than what the country really is, not a national myth.

Now...if I can find a mimeograph machine...

1. I was following this on the Texas Tribute youtube feed

It was a great show. I am really proud of Wendy Davis and I was proud of the crowd and the citizen filibuster.

2. Which is why anyone who's paying attention needs to stand against pre-emptory data mining

...since the 1%ers and their government errand-runners know exactly what's coming, too...

7. No...12:02

So they decided there was too much evidence of a felony in the open. Aka the record of changing the time stamp.

This is my guess of what happened when they went behind closed doors. Democrats had the grubby evidence of the time stamp change in two print outs. I even got the photo and screen caps.

Fun fact, if you ever get into elected office. Reporters tend to photograph boards too, and the photos we take have all that metadata in the file, including date and time. So on top of that they had local and national photogs. Too much evidence of tampering in the open

17. That's why they rammed the vote suppression bill through

so they could be ready for SCOTUS to give them the green light.

15. Yes it was great...

...very compelling theater. And waking up to find out they didn't pass the bill was a great thing!

I do have a question about the rule of law, however. Whether or not the Republicans finally backed off, there is clear evidence of illegal tampering with the timestamps. Since that is the case, why is no one being held to account? We don't back off charging the Little People with crimes, even if they are unsuccessful. Just try robbing a bank; even if you don't succeed, you'll be cooling your heels in jail for your attempt. Apparently this is not the case for our lawmakers, even at the state level.

I sincerely wish someone would go after them; if not to charge them with a crime, then at least to expel them from the legislature on ethical grounds.
