"There's something happening here"............................... Updated !!!**#! Goddamn it!

Last edited Wed Jun 26, 2013, 11:06 PM - Edit history (2)

I was so Happy this morning, The history we made last night. Unbelievably Sweet. Three States fought the GOP and we won. Damn it we did. Fairly without deception. No smoke and mirrors. We won!

Well lo and behold the GOP rears their ugly dishonorable heads again. They are doing it in Texas again and I want to cry.

Statement by Sen. Wendy Davis on Announcement of Second Special Session

Misplaced priorities of legislative leaders squandered a tremendous opportunity to make much needed improvements in our transportation infrastructure and help create good jobs and bring businesses to Texas. Despite urging by responsible members of the Senate to bring up the matter of transportation, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst derailed as much as much as $1 billion per year in transportation funding by stubbornly pushing divisive, failed legislation attacking women's health care options.

If leaders are serious about using this second called special session to improve the lives of Texans by repairing and expanding our transportation networks, they will find no greater ally than me. If they intend to keep pushing their extreme personal political agenda ahead of the interests of Texas families, I will not back off of my duty to fight on their behalf.

It's time DU, once again we need to stand up and be heard.

Texas needs us. Women need us and Senator Wendy Davis needs us. Anyone want a Hero, Wendy Davis stood for all of us for Thirteen Hours last night. We need to take her back~

Great OP Tx4Obama, Thank you for letting me share it!

As regular readers here know, I've been talking for awhile now about how what we're witnessing is the white male patriarchy in its death throes. Yesterday 5 Justices on the Supreme Court were the latest to lash out when they basically issued a ruling that guts the Voting Rights Act.

What I've also been suggesting is that we are in the midst of a third wave of a movement to remedy this country's original sin of slavery and racism. Of course the first was the Civil War that ended slavery and the second was the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950's and 60's that ended Jim Crow. In both of those movements white people gave African Americans legal standing. Over the course of the last 50 years, they've used those legal rights to raise themselves up. The challenge white people are facing today is that it is finally time to look African Americans (and other people of color) in the eye - face to face as equals. And even occasionally see them as our leaders. That's not going down real well. And so the dying beast is lashing out.

Last night we saw a wonderful example of what fusion politics looks like in - of all places - the Texas legislature. Senator Wendy Davis - who owes her seat to a VRA Section 5 challenge - launched a real filibuster to stop a bill that would have stripped most women in Texas of their constitutional right to have an abortion. After standing in the senate well for hours without being able to sit or eat or drink, buoyed only by the crowds that had gathered to cheer her on, she put on a back brace - with an assist from a friend...Senator Rodney Ellis. Here's fusion politics in picture form folks.

For quite a while now President Obama has been trying to light a fire under us - telling us that we need to engage as citizens in this democracy. I'd say its time we started watching the good people of Texas and the folks participating in North Carolina's Moral Monday movement. As the song says..."There's something happening here. What it is ain't exactly clear."

There is more at the Link~ including a Video I have posted before.

can find a way to take womens right away they will do it. They will also try to take away anyone's right that doesn't own property. I swear I think that is what will happen if they can find a way to do it. It will be imperative everyone from now go vote in every election. Republicans are trying to take away all of liberals freedoms. If we stay home they win. We can't let that happen folks. GET OUT THE VOTE. We need to start about 3 months before to check what is needed for people in your area to vote to make sure you have the right things ready to go vote. Go register in the office and look them right in the eye. Call before and ask what you need to bring to register.

in Massachusetts yesterday. Senator Edward Markey (D) is going to Washington.

It's a step. A baby step. But votes do matter.

The GOP is going down, they just don't know it yet.

We have to learn from our mistakes, and those who did not take the time to vote in 2010 should have learned that "not" voting put republicans in charge of the House, and a lot of states, and we all know jus how bad that has been!

Thank you. What we saw last night should encourage everyone to make sure we change things in congress come 2014. Those who have been fighting against women's rights, voters rights, and everything that comes up to fix our country need to go, period! It's time to take back those rights!

I am humbled and honored by the thousands and thousands of messages of support I have received from Texans and our friends around the nation. What happened yesterday was a victory for the people of Texas – but our fight isn't over yet. Less than 24 hours after our filibuster, Governor Perry has once again chosen the low road of partisanship over the common good by calling a second special session. I have no doubt that our state's failed leadership will do everything they can to thwart the will of the majority of Texans and pass this harmful bill that we have worked so hard to defeat. But the voices of Texas inspired me last night, and I stand ready for another fight. I hope you will continue to stand with me.

Oh, forget it, she 'Stands with Rand' who is trying to push through a federal version of the Texas bill. No help there.

What I'd give to see some of these heroes and heroines stand with the people losing the right to control their bodies from the Koch brothers and their ALEC fascism.

They will not. Just like this woman will not.

When a woman says these things. It breaks my heart.

Wait what? This from a Woman!

“In the emergency room they have what’s called rape kits where a woman can get cleaned out” -Texas Rep. Jody Laubenberg (R) on exceptions for rape and incest

What? No. No.

Rape kits are used to collect physical evidence of an assault, not to give you a pseudo-abortion.

So we do it again freshwest, over and over until it is done. I watched Texas play out. I was up until after 4 PM. I was happy today, sad now.

However I saw and felt something yesterday. I have to believe that there is hope. In fact I know this is true.

I will explain that feeling to you later~
