He didn't have the intelligence apparatus in place to tell him that Bin Laden was determined to strike in the US, and that he would likely use planes to do so.
Truly, the only way we could have stopped 9/11 is if we spent trillions on an intelligence operation run by independent contractors and if we as Americans had given up some of our most basic constitutional rights.
Without those things in place today thousands of Americans might die, because there would be no way to stop terrorist attacks otherwise!
Remember - Bush could not have stopped 9/11.

(154,021 posts)To author the famous piece of fiction, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside the United States." Something about August 6th
We all imagined that.
Good point!

(22,143 posts)The neo-cons needed it, had to have it and got it.

(16,831 posts)There is no conspiracy needed when basic incompetence explains it.
We needed nothing else but a competent leader.
MrSlayer
(22,143 posts)And the "official" story is as much conspiracy bullshit as what I posted.
It's a public forum, I'll post what I want. Just as you will.
Good day.

(22,143 posts)Since so many people buy what that administration was selling. Imagine, believing Dick Cheney's version of events. :shudder:

(14,459 posts)I saw a clip on MSM that they probably should have checked first. I was flipping channels and they were doing a 10 year 9/11 reminder, and the vid clip of one of the main buildings coming down had explosions in the windows cascading down in front of the building collapse.
I was on the fence before that(lihop/mihop), but when they put solid evidence up like that in plain sight...
You figured it out: silent explosions took down the buildings!
No way it could have been air pressure from the collapsing buildings that blew out the windows. Those stupid scientists and engineers have no idea what they are talking about.

(16,831 posts)I hate that this thread has become a conspiracy theory thread. No conspiracy is needed to prove that Bush was completely incompetent.

(3,829 posts)Al Jazeera broadcast the videos. 9-11 conspiracies are easy to discredit.
Bush was too stupid to care about what was necessary to prevent 9-11. It's impossible to know the personal motivations of individual advisors, but any real conspiracy to allow 9-11 to happen is highly unlikely.

(14,459 posts)That's a new kind of science right there! Care to give me the formula for that?

(28,498 posts)The British, the Germans, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, a whole mess of foreigners. But Bush wouldn't listen to them because, well, you can't trust foreigners, and if foreigners liked America so much, they'd become Americans! Right?!!

(14,459 posts)But ya, things have gotten a little too serious, and there are people on this site straightfaced selling how all of this NSA crap is protecting us from terrorists.
The pre-9/11 laws were quite sufficient to hunt terrorists...but not activists.

(34,655 posts)of The Project For the New American Century (PNAC) that was praying for a "Pearl Harbor " type event
Although my first statement is also "satire", it's a \true story, kids. (regarding the PNAC)
""New Pearl Harbor"[edit]
Section V of Rebuilding America's Defenses, entitled "Creating Tomorrow's Dominant Force", includes the sentence: "Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing eventlike a new Pearl Harbor" (51).[14]
Though not arguing that Bush administration PNAC members were complicit in those attacks, other social critics such as commentator Manuel Valenzuela and journalist Mark Danner,[39][40][41] investigative journalist John Pilger, in New Statesman,[42] and former editor of The San Francisco Chronicle Bernard Weiner, in CounterPunch,[43] all argue that PNAC members used the events of 9/11 as the "Pearl Harbor" that they neededthat is, as an "opportunity" to "capitalize on" (in Pilger's words), in order to enact long-desired plans.
