He and the rest of the panel were disparaging what Rick Perry said yesterday at the RTL meeting.

I hope she pushes back hard on him for his remarks today that "more and more Americans" are in favor of the restrictions that TX would require with this law...

1. great showcase for Wendy just now! She was terrific and rebutted Joe with nerves

of steel. Her responses to the typical RW "reasonable" limitations on abortion were level and calm and utterly devastating to Joe's recitation of them. Donny Deutsch gave her the opportunity to talk more personally about women's reproductive decisions, which she handled with aplomb and dignity. She also brought up the fact that Perry had, until the Republican presidential primaries, avoided debates Texas and artfully pointed out that once he HAD to debate, he effed up big time! I laughed out loud at that because it was a wonderful insight!

She was asked about the next go-round in the TX lege for this bill and she said that the people will be out expressing their views just as they did before (altho this will be tougher). So it looks like she is not giving up and not giving in and neither are her supporters...

After the interview closed, the panel just sat there stunned by her skill and her ability to take her place on the national political stage.

Note to Donny: please knock off asking whether she is currently married...please...

2. I almost always agree with you...but

not this time. I thought she lacked succinctness. Wish she had stuck with a couple concise points about what will happen to choice in TX and drove them home. Also think she skirted the question about what is next. She knows there is no next step - she could have used the opportunity to really gin up the public in TX to protest/call reps.

3. I don't think she could let Joe's "reasons" go unanswered. Personally, I liked the calm and

measured pushback on these arguments that she made. I think they were necessary. I think she is quiet and reserved but has steely resolve (she had to, to do what she did). She did say that the people would be out again in full force. And she made it perfectly clear that they weren't running away.

Also, there is that fine line that women in politics walk: if you get too outspoken you are considered too "shrill."

I can't wait to see this thing unfold...Perry really shot himself in both feet with his little speech to the RTLifers. He is looking like a major DICK and she is calm and reasonable...
