Throw this in my yard? Sick!

That's the little note I left beside the little blue plastic bag of dog poop that I found thrown into my front garden yard. I placed it beside the tree where our neighborhood dog walkers could see it; hopefully where the culprit can read it.

Why do these folks with at least a quarter acre of land in their own yards bring their dogs to go to the bathroom on other folks' lawns and gardens? I mean, they actually direct the animals on a lead and stand there like it's nothing at all to have their pet defecate or urinate where I frequently work and normally place my hands on the variety of plants and bushes.

I'm grateful that we have laws that compel them to scoop or bag the feces, but it's an exercise which is confoundedly abhorrent to me. City dwellers with no land? Fine. Suburban land owners with yards large enough to serve as their pet's toilet? Ridiculous and arrogant, imo.

Why do these folks believe it's proper to allow their pet to urinate on the cable box where the electricians are forced to deal with the waste? I watch one seemingly respectable neighbor after another bring their animal from their own home and yard and direct or stand there and allow them to relieve themselves on property which is clearly not a bathroom for their dogs. It is a rudeness of the highest order and it bespeaks a profound disrespect for community and our neighborhood.

I've actually been able to confront a few of these folks and declare that my property isn't there to receive their pet's refuse and that I'm regularly tasked to put my hands where their dog urinates. Their reactions ranged from shocked at being confronted, to utter contempt. Maybe it's my tone.

Oh, and as for the results of my little display and note, so far? One of the offending neighbors (maybe not his little package) just walked by with his boxer and bent down to read the note. Great, I thought, until I saw that he had gone a few feet and was now standing there, allowing his dog to urinate on my flowers and plants. Sick.

Since then more people have let their precious pups poop in the yard.

"In 2011, the town council of Hernani, a village in northern Spain, approved a measure that requires dog owners to include a sample of their canine's DNA in their pet registration, the Telegraph notes. That way, if any piles of poo are discovered, the town can track down the pet owner responsible."

All the special people with walk around and let their dogs shit, piss and dig up other peoples yards. I will not sugar coat it, they are assholes. I was in one of my flower beds weeding one day when this idiot woman stood by and watched her German shepard dig in my garden. When I finally yelled "hey!" She looked pissed and said "I'm going to pick it up." At which point I yelled "Stay the fuck out of my gardens. You can see I'm crawling around out here." (She didn't even say sorry about her dog tearing things up...........These are the same jackasses that have so much poison sprayed on their yards that you can barely stand to walk around some days.....WTF is wrong with people?

As far as the dog peeing, a dog just pees. It isn't as if you can order the dog NOT to pee, or order the dog to PEE RIGHT HERE.

I'm sure that there is all sorts of critter refuse in everyone's garden.

He knew enough not to piss where my plants were - especially out front, because I trained him (gently) not to and directed him whenever there was any opportunity.

I also walked my dog and did not pause to allow him to urinate on my neighbors' yards. It was as simple as a short lead and walking him on the public side of the sidewalk. I certainly didn't pause to allow the dog to urinate on cable boxes or any other property where someone might regularly need to use their hands. That was just common sense and courtesy, to me.

For my own pet he isn't allowed to pee or poop in neighbors yards. If I see he's about to go, I pull him to the gutter. I then pick up the poo and we are on our way.

As for my home, when I design my front yard I had a short wall installed. No way was I going to put all the energy into a new yard just to have it ruined by pet owners who don't give a shit.

I did catch one guy just throw his dogs poop bag in the gutter in front of my house. I yelled at him to put in the garage can that was right next to him. The idiot pick it up and put into the recyle can. I yelled at him again (I think I scared him), and ended up getting it out myself.

I love humanity, it's people I can't stand.

as my daughter was coming home from work, she saw a dog walker toss a bag of poop into a section of our yard.

Being the hot-under-the-collar type, she spun her car around and chased him down, shooting a video of him with her phone while yelling at him for being a slob.

The guy just pulled his hat down over his face and kept on walking.

(We have two dogs and never leave the house without a pocketful of poop bags).

you on people who do not bag their dogs crap. If I see this happen I channel up my Grandpappy Mccain and let them have it and frankly if I ever saw it and had my cell phone with me I'd call the cops. We live caddy corner to a city block sized pond which is the mecca for dog walkers anywhere with in 5 blocks of my house. And we have one owner (someday I'll catch them) with a very large dog judging by the size of its droppings that let's them sit. Makes me nuts. Especially in the winter.

That said. I'm curious what exactly would you have folks walking the dogs do about their pets lifting their legs on the way to the pond? Dogs like to sniff and yeah they do pee on boulevards and sometimes on the parameters of peoples lawns. Do you expect the owners to yank them away from your lawn with their leases? I am not trying to be antagonistic but I personally don't wig out if a dog takes a whiz on my daylilies. Crap yes, the other, not so much.

Do you expect the owners to yank them away from your lawn with their leashes? You don't have to yank hard enough to hurt them.
And not letting them pee on lawns and plants is part of being a responsible pet parent. Pee smells, it's not healthy for the plants, and you may not mind the pee, someone else may. You can train your dog to pee where you want. Or make sure they are empty before you walk them.
It makes people dislike and resent dogs, and pretty soon one of them starts lobbying for dog free parks and beaches. This is also why landlords ban pets from homes and apartments too
Look at it this way: you wouldn't want a human peeing or eliminating, or throwing dirty diapers on or near your lawn right?
Yet this is a new trend:

There isn't much difference between pet and human parents who are rude and thoughtless like this.

First, there is no excuse for dog owner's/walkers who do not remove feces from the sidewalk or other people's property. None. It makes people resent dogs. It is highly irresponsible. Anyone who owns or works with dogs should be prepared to remove the poop, every time.

As a person who walks 2 dogs 4 times a day, you don't always get to pick the spot for them. I have trained dogs to poop or pee on command but there isn't much you can do about marking behavior (peeing where other dogs pee, especially on everything that stands upright). There are times when I am sure that a dog is empty and has no ammo and they surprise me. I have at least 2 bags for every walk. If I get caught short a bag I will come back. If there is another dog's poop near the one I am picking up then it's a 2-fer and I'll pick up both.

But urine is the tougher one. It kills grass and leaves a dead ring there. Certain items become urine kiosks -- mailbox posts, sign posts, electrical boxes. Dogs instinctually want to pee where their paws can stay dry -- grass, mulch, gravel -- and not on smooth hard surfaces such as concrete. That is a problem when walking in residential neighborhoods because inevitably the dog(s) prefer your lawn to anything else. I trained my dogs from 8 weeks to pee on gravel but if all the driveways are paved and everything else is beautiful green grass then there is no good option. The best I can do is ask them to pee at the beginning of the walk, get the majority of urine out of their system in a place of my choosing, eg the gravel in my backyard. But many dogs, especially males, retain some urine for marking.

There is a park near us but the city does not allow dogs there. Twice a year, this park is covered in goose poop, little black piles every 12 inches or so and no one picks THAT up.

Urine is gross but it is sterile. It washes off in rain and has little to no odor. We all have to accommodate nature -- birds, squirrels, geese, outdoor cats and the like. In the grand scheme of things, dog urine on an electrical box is, IMHO, not worth getting too upset over but I apologize nonetheless.

I bought one of those big super soaker toys to try to get rid of the stray cats that were pissing under my kitchen window. Nothing like the stench of cat piss on a 90 degree day in the kitchen while you are getting dinner ready.

Only one of them is back.

Moron - someone who does something wrong but isn't aware of it.

Idiot - someone who does something wrong and releases it, and does it wrong again.

Jerk - someone who does something wrong, realizes it, and doesn't care.

Fucking Jerk - someone who does something wrong, realizes it, doesn't care and gets off on it.

Asshole - someone who does something wrong, realizes it, doesn't care, gets off on it, and does it again knowing that someone else will suffer from it.

Sociopath - someone who does something wrong with the sole purpose of improving themselves at the cost of another's detriment.

(my list started from an infantile argument years ago between a buddy of mine and myself over which was worse, a moron or an idiot. LOL)

Irresponsible and inconsiderate dog owners ruin it for good dog owners. I pick up other dogs' poop too when I'm in public. I've never caught someone in the act of leaving it behind yet. They need shaming.
