Bam! Tammy Duckworth Goes To Town!

Please watch all 8 minutes, but if you want to really get juicy, at least go to the 4:30 mark. Whoa!

http://www.upworthy.com/whats-the-worst-thing-you-could-say-to-a-congresswoman-who-lost-her-legs-in-battle-found-it?c=la3

Abstract:

An IRS contractor named Braulio Castillo hurt his foot playing football in military prep school. He never served in the actual military. Then one day, decades later, he used it to get preferred treatment in government contracts. Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), who lost both her legs and still could lose her arm from combat injuries, felt that this might just be a touch inappropriate. It gets amazing around 4:30.

If I were the guy being grilled by Ms. Duckworth, I would have asked if I could just excuse myself to go pee, and never returned.

That was brutal.

e·vis·cer·ate

[v. ih-vis-uh-reyt; adj. ih-vis-er-it, -uh-reyt] Show IPA verb, e·vis·cer·at·ed, e·vis·cer·at·ing, adjective
verb (used with object)
1. to remove the entrails from; disembowel: to eviscerate a chicken.

A detail from the Huff Post article: Tammy Duckworth Eviscerates Contractor Who Claimed Veterans Disability :

Castillo cited his foot injury, suffered at a military prep school, as the basis for his IT company's application for special status as a "service-disabled veteran-owned small business." The application was granted, and his company, Strong Castle, was given preferential treatment in federal contract bids.

<snip>

"I'm sorry that twisting your ankle in high school has now come back to hurt you in such a painful way, if also opportune for you to gain this status for your business," she (Tammy) added.

Over a six-month period in 2012, Strong Castle won contracts with the Internal Revenue Service worth as much as $500 million. Wednesday's hearing followed a damning report that detailed how a senior IRS agent helped Castillo win the government business. The IRS agent in question, Greg Roseman, was dismissed from the hearing after he exercised his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

I am loving the dynamic that our new Congresswomen bring to the debate. Go ladies!

That's the only thing I can figure. If you're lying to get money and take advantage of the system, it seems to be okay.

What I have observed with thumper types is that they feel they can do or say anything -- even if it's a sin -- because so long as they have "accepted Jesus Christ" as their savior, they feel all is well.

They freely and proudly admit that "we're all sinners." With that attitude, they don't have much incentive to stop sinning as I see it.

It's really fucked up, to be perfectly blunt. IMHO, that is.

Tammy just exposed a little corner of the corporate welfare system...people who find ways to suck off the government. Military contracting is rife with grifters...

Cheers...

It's a microcosm of government in general. When corporations grift the system, not a word is uttered, but if one person does, let's throw the baby out with the bath water.

I always make this point in discussion.

"Both are bad. Hundreds of dollars, or billions of dollars? Which one we goin' after?"

...far better than a Joe Barton apologizing to the oil companies or a bunch of congresscritters fawning over the Apple CEO. The corruption of our political system has given a free pass to a lot of connected grifters who kick back money to their bought-off congresscritters.

This poor schmuck didn't expect this or know what truck hit him

This does point out the serious need to get the rushpublicans out of control of the House...let's focus on cutting the corporate welfare system, not the social safety net...
