Obese Gang Member Gets Prison Time For Sniffing Boy's Arm

A 425-pound man has been sentenced to 32 months in jail after pleading guilty to grabbing a 10-year-old boy and sniffing his arm.

Victor Joseph Espinoza, 56, who has a previous conviction as a gang member, struck a deal for past charges of street terrorism and gang activity to be dismissed if he pleaded guilty to the false imprisonment charge.

1. Interesting charges

"Espinoza was being held on charges of false imprisonment, child annoyance, and gang enhancements when he was arrested last year."

I've never heard of a child annoyance or gang enhancements charge. They sound made up. I know this guy is probably a scumbag, grabbing children on the street and all, but do we really need some of these laws? It seems that a sentence for false imprisonment would be long enough, or at least it should be.

IMO it would have been better to charge him with attempted kidnapping and false imprisonment.
