Just watched a 2009 NOVA special on the NSA

about how they were listening in on phone calls and emails of... everyone, including Americans. It's currently streaming on Netflix (until tonight at midnight).

The reason for this post is because Snowden didn't release any information that hadn't already been released by PBS and NOVA 4 years ago. The only thing he may have done is given away locations of operatives overseas.

I think there is definitely some element to it, that though the information had already been "released" to the world, it had mostly gone unnoticed. For some reason, this time around, maybe because of Greenwald or because there was a "hero" people could attach to it, it resonated more.

I wanted to post something that's immediately viewable for people, if they so desire. It seems to me people need to watch more PBS.

Or maybe there is something new about the reason revelations, and that explains everyones reaction to them, up to and including the hill.

Or maybe the rest of us just aren't as smart as you

and read the description of a program about the NSA, where it plainly states they talk about spying on American's. So, if you're going for the sarcastic insult, it means I can read and you can't?

As for the world, we've been spying on the world since there was a US government. There is nothing new to spying on your enemies or allies. If you think for one second that MI-5 (British spies) don't keep tabs on America, then being naive is the problem, not intelligence.
