Two New Friends

“The original instructions direct that we who walk about the earth are to express a great respect and affection and a gratitude toward all the spirits that create and support life. We give a greeting and thanksgiving to the many supporters of our own lives – the plants, the animals, the water, the air, and the sun. When people cease to respect and express gratitude for these many things, then all life will be destroyed, and human life on this planet will come to anend.”
John Mohawk, Ha-de-no-sau-nee.

On Friday, I was bringing my best friend & wonderful wife home, after she spent a rough week in the hospital. As we approached our driveway, the vehicle in front of us began to slow down, and I noticed its blinker indicating it was also turning into our driveway. It had an out-of-state plate, which I did not recognize.

My driveway, which is a section of an old turnpike from the late 1700s, is long. When we reached the top, I got out to see who our visitors were, and what they wanted. It was two women, both retired university professors, who were looking for me. One, who taught English and literature, lived in central New York. In the early 1980s, I had been acquainted with her; we used to be an undefeated team in a once-popular board game known as Trivial Pursuit. The other, from the southwest, I recognized as one of the top archaeologists in North America.

They had sought me out because they had read an article that Will Pitt had posted on TruthOut, regarding my recent hunger strike. They had then followed the event on the internet site, Facebook. This pair of former-1960s politica;/social activists-turned university professors had come to offer any assistance that I might need in the struggle to protect the environment from the horrors of hydrofracking.

We talked for about 90 minutes, before I had to leave to a board meeting in Broome County, to plan future actions in the struggle. I opened the meeting with a traditional “greeting” that Onondaga Chief Paul Waterman had taught me. And then, I spoke about something that Gandhi taught: that when you are doing the right thing, for the right reasons, the right people will enter your life at exactly the right time.

And so it is.

That is so Buddhistic--Buddhism teaches the same respect and awareness that everything is interdependent...nothing exists separate from the existence of everything else...we must be aware and appreciative.

The christofascism rampant in the US today is perfectly and willfully unaware of this fundamental truth of life.

Real truth--true spiritual teachings -- explain how life works. Obedience to scary authoritarians standing in for punishing judgmental deities is NOT a spiritual teaching.

9. Yes, people enter your life at the right time especially

when your moral compass is set. I'm sturggling right now but you entered my life my life at an important time as did others. Keep up the good fight. I'm not able currently to be with in upstate NY you but am in spirit.

Your friend ,

Mike

12. Always.

I'm going to walk out to my sweat lodge after finishing my cup of tea, to see if there are proper materials there for me to do a small ceremony by myself. I'll be thinking of you, my Good Friend & Brother!

11. Speaking of Ghandi...

James Douglass has a new book from Orbis someone's children may want to spring for mom and dad:

Gandhi and the Unspeakable: His Final Experiment with Truth

You know the Theme, well, Sir.

13. I was re-reading

Douglass's book on JFK last night. My wife asked me what I was laughing about -- considering the general topic of that book. I said that, even at my age, I find the inter-connectedness of all things amazing.

15. Ours seems to be an Associative Universe.

This is probably old hat to you...

Dr. Jacques Vallee says we may live in an "Associative Universe," one in which our minds act as a rudder, guiding us toward destinations we have pre-considered. An astronomer and computer scientist by training, he was among the first to apply computers to analyzing the UFO phenomenon when an assistant to the late Dr. J. Allen Hynek of Project BLUEBOOK fame and "swamp gas" notoriety.

Vallee describes the "Associative Universe" in detail in "Messengers of Deception," a study of UFO cults and people who manipulate followers and what it means to the greater society as a whole. He had been studying a contactee group called, iirc, "The Order of Melchizedek" for several months. On an unrelated matter, Vallee flew to L.A. for a conference and hopped aboard a cab. When he finally got to his room, he looked at his receipt for the cab ride and it was signed, iirc, John Melchizedek. Vallee looked in the phone book and he was the only Melchizedek in town.

The coincidence made him think that, perhaps the universe is organized along the lines of a series of information events. Time and space, rather than acting as a phonograph needle laid down at the beginning of track one and coursing through to the end of the side, may be a series of seemingly unconnected experiences woven together by our consciousness. Thus, our awareness serves to pick up the needle and put it down at different places on the album. A similar situation may exist in data storage systems, where key words help retrieve information faster than having to go through an entire pile of data to find the needle in the infohaystack. For us, our minds act as a sort of rudder, guiding us more often to the visualized destination.

http://www.fiu.edu/~mizrachs/UFO-info-age.html

This is an amazing universe. Perhaps important thoughts are like the clouds moving across the clear blue sky of the Universal Mind. Whenever possible, it really does make sense to visualize peace, justice, understanding and love. It could hasten the day when this becomes the kind of universe good people deserve.

You are sir, I wish I could be like you
I remember when I first came here and I typed to you in a reply something to the effect that if DU ever needed a spokesperson you'd be the man to do it. I still feel the same

I love this place

24. You're a good teacher

I see your name and click on your links and always come away with food for thought and renewed hope. Your words are soothing to the soul in a day when the mention of God, by those who brag about themselves as special to him, carries a message of hate and bile.

We do depend on living things on this planet to survive as a species. But if we were gone no plant or animal would be affected by our absence except in a positive way. This planet does not depend on us to survive. If we were wiped out entirely the planet would thrive.
