Poll: John Boehner's Favorability Rating Just Above Zimmerman's, Snowden's.. -*ugly pic alert!*

Twice as many Americans view House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) negatively than view him positively, according to an NBC/WSJ poll released Wednesday. Poll respondents ranked Boehner just ahead of Edward Snowden and George Zimmerman in popularity.

Only 18 percent of Americans have a positive opinion of Boehner, while 36 percent view him negatively, the poll found. Boehner's unfavorable ratings, which stood at 29 percent last December, jumped in the aftermath of January's fiscal cliff debate.

Boehner's rating, at a net -18, puts him far behind former President George W. Bush and ahead of only Snowden and Zimmerman -- the two least popular public figures tested. NSA leaker Snowden had an 11 percent favorable rating and a 35 percent unfavorable rating, while Zimmerman, who was acquitted in the death of Trayvon Martin, had a 14 percent favorable rating and a 39 percent unfavorable rating

I was kinda surprised.. I didn't know Snowden was down so far in favorability.. I thought he was on the precipice of Sainthood.

Glad the People can see through boner's lies no matter how much m$m tries to cover for him.. Congress is down to 12%.

Congress as a whole boasts a dismal average 12 percent approval rating, and its leaders in both parties rarely fare well in polls. A January NBC/WSJ survey found top Democrats doing just slightly better than top Republicans: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi had a net -11 favorable rating (26 percent positive to 37 percent negative), while Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had a net -12 rating (16 percent positive to 28 percent negative). In the most recent poll, voters were evenly split between preferring a Republican-controlled Congress or a Democratic-controlled one.

But many assign the GOP more blame for partisan gridlock. Two-thirds of Americans polled in the NBC/WSJ survey said the Republican Party is emphasizing a partisan approach over unifying the country, compared to 55 percent who said the same of Democrats, and 48 percent who said the same of President Barack Obama. Fifty-six percent said Republicans are too inflexible in dealing with the president.

The poll surveyed 1,000 Americans by phone between July 17 and July 21.

Hope this even gets more evident in the 2014 Election.

Next year, if memory serves, will bring an end to dubya's Secret Service protection. Or perhaps it'll be January 2015, which is six years after he left office. From him onward, Secret Service protection for former presidents lasts only for another six years after their term's up. Congress made that move late in the Clinton presidency - I believe just out of spite, because they weren't able to get rid of him through impeachment and conviction. I don't have proof but I personally suspect as much. They were a vindictive lot against Clinton ever since he denied the lavishly-entitled ghwb the second term they felt was his due. Unfortunately for them, it didn't take effect until dubya's "presidency." Bill Clinton is the last former President to have lifetime Secret Service protection. And MAN do I LOVE that irony!!!

Was it restored? If so, I wouldn't be surprised to see the bad guys try to take it away from President Obama.

I just appreciated the irony.

Kinda like when darrell issa dug deep into his own pockets to make sure Gray Davis was recalled from the governorship here in CA. And he got the recall, alright. But then he also got bigfooted by the then-popular Ahnold, and he cried like a spoiled two-year-old about the awfulness of the missed opportunity and having to concede this one that he felt was "rightfully" his - 'cause after all, he bought and paid for the recall, assuming the way would be clear.

As much as I hated what happened, it was utterly sweet to savor his big fat pathetic crocodile tears. Almost worth it just to see Mr. Entitled Crybaby sniveling about another one that got away, to which he was, of course, entitled somehow.

Y'know... they called US "Sore Losermen"...

they are a pretty despicable bunch.

The threesome are all working on a form of the stand your ground law.

Zimmie shoots an unarmed child that he was stalking because he can according to the law. A despicable law I might add that had the NRA's backing. Zimm was scared, terrified of that child. So no questions asked just shoot to kill.

Boehner takes the American people hostage. Is he doing what he thinks is best for the citizens of this country? No he is not. He forced a shut down of this Government. He takes SNAP benefits away from the most vulnerable of our citizens. Refuses to bring Immigration reform to the floor. Need I go on?

He stands his ground as surely as if he had a gun in his hands. His reasons, partisan politics pure and simple. Why, because he's scared that his party is slipping away into oblivion.

Snowden, he says he stands for truth and justice for his Country. Then instead of taking the truth to the American people, he flees to China and Russia. Leaks. Then stands his ground and threatens his Country.
Why, because he's scared.

So, yes Cha, Boehner's numbers are dismal. His very red district will be a hard fight. We may not win their.
However, we need to GOTV in 2014. We can't sit back in a red state or a blue state. Our votes matter.

He said the folks should pay for it but was worse than Romney, who was clueless after living a life of privilege.

IIRC, Boehner said if their parents hadn't worked hard enough to pay for their college education, they were born to be ditch diggers and ought to accept it.

I've tried to find kind words about these guys, but like the media gadflies, they are shameless sociopaths.
They won't change their attitude, as they are rewarded for it. They are the one-percent's darlings, to keep our mind off of flesh and blood people suffering around us.

From left: Frank Gaffney; Ginni Thomas; Allen West

Ginni Thomas, Allen West, and a crew of conservative activists and journalists have formed a hush-hush coalition to battle progressives—and Karl Rove.

Dubbed Groundswell, this coalition convenes weekly in the offices of Judicial Watch, the conservative legal watchdog group. During these hush-hush sessions and through a Google group, the members of Groundswell—including aides to congressional Republicans—cook up battle plans for their ongoing fights against the Obama administration, congressional Democrats, progressive outfits, and the Republican establishment and "clueless" GOP congressional leaders. They devise strategies for killing immigration reform, hyping the Benghazi controversy, and countering the impression that the GOP exploits racism.

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/07/groundswell-rightwing-group-ginni-thomas

Re-Dubbed "GroundSmell" by a poster here on DU. This is just a sample of what PBO has been up against.

Now, we come to our 3rd member of this sneaky infamous trio.. Snowden, who broke the law when he hacked into the NSA database.. he knew he broke it because he fled to China..

Every adult, most children, and criminals in particular, understand there are consequences that logically follow actions that are deemed unacceptable by society regardless it is a child stealing their sibling’s favorite toy or an armed robber holding up a convenience store. It is doubtful that every American agrees with every law, but they certainly understand they are necessary to preserve order and protect the people from harm whether it is from criminals or foreign entities threatening national security. The intelligence community is beholden to follow the law of the land, and one of the laws they swear to uphold is keeping top secret information out of the hands of unauthorized individuals whether they represent a foreign government, a terrorist organization, or media outlet looking for the next big headline. Edward Snowden was charged late last week with breaking the law and his flight to a foreign territory before charges were even filed imply that he was well aware he violated his top secret security clearance and deserved the criminal complaint filed against him.

http://www.politicususa.com/2013/06/24/simple-fact-legal-definition-edward-snowden-criminal.html

And, ever since then he's been whining about how scared he is of what the bad ol Pres Obama is going to do to him while singing the praises of mother Russia.. that's another thing these three have in common besides being sneaky.. whining a lot.

GOTV 2014 WORK FOR IT!

Indeed the theme song of the groundsmellers and all those who bow at the altar of koch teabaggers. And, no, they don't get to rename themselves Frederick Douglas(sic) Republicons.

That may make Groundswell sound kind of scary, but there's reason to believe these right-wing activists -- surprise, surprise -- aren't especially sharp.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes from a February 28 Groundswell gathering reflected both their collective sense of pessimism and desire for aggressive tactics: "We are failing the propaganda battle with minorities. Terms like, 'GOP,' 'Tea Party,' 'Conservative' communicate 'racism.'" The Groundswellers proposed an alternative: "Fredrick Douglas Republican," a phrase, the memo noted, that "changes minds." (His name is actually spelled "Frederick Douglass.&quot The meeting notes also stated that an "active radical left is dedicated to destroy [sic] those who oppose them" with "vicious and unprecedented tactics. We are in a real war; most conservatives are not prepared to fight."

He would have rolled over in his grave to be used by the groundsmells.

Bio~

Abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in Talbot County, Maryland. He became one of the most famous intellectuals of his time, advising presidents and lecturing to thousands on a range of causes, including women’s rights and Irish home rule. Among Douglass’ writings are several autobiographies eloquently describing his experiences in slavery and his life after the Civil War.

snip

At the urging of William Lloyd Garrison, Douglass wrote and published his first autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, in 1845. The book was a bestseller in the United States and was translated into several European languages. Although the book garnered Douglass many fans, some critics expressed doubt that a former slave with no formal education could have produced such elegant prose. Douglass published three versions of his autobiography during his lifetime, revising and expanding on his work each time. My Bondage and My Freedom appeared in 1855. In 1881, Douglass published Life and Times of Frederick Douglass, which he revised in 1892.

snip

In addition to abolition, Douglass became an outspoken supporter of women’s rights. In 1848, he was the only African American to attend the first women's rights convention at Seneca Falls, New York.

Were they really going to use Douglass to:

The Groundswellers proposed an alternative: "Fredrick Douglas Republican," a phrase, the memo noted, that "changes minds."

Change minds in an outreach program to minorities by using Douglass?

There were plenty of people driving by who witnessed the accident, and stopped to help the family out of the vehicle, BEFORE Zimmerman showed up, according to the 911 calls, but no ‘thank you’ press conference mentioning anyone else by name specifically was scheduled by the family, and no mention of anyone other than Zimmerman was made by the sheriff.

Zimmerman showed up AFTER he was called by a SCSO member according to a report at News Ball.com, Zimmerman then got out of his car with a fire extinguisher, and apparently left without doing anything especially heroic. You can hear the course of events here in the 911 calls; many people who were there as the accident happened stopped to get people out, and the fire and smoke problem from the calls, appeared some time after they were out of the car. As you can hear from the calls, people were out before there was a smoke or fire problem; Zimmerman did not appear to risk his life to pull anyone out of a burning car, as was claimed.

We have no independent verification that Zimmerman was even there, much less that he did anything heroic. No photos, no cell phone video, no police video, no other people who were present as indicated by the 911 calls that support that Zimmerman was there, or did what was claimed – that he pulled people from a flaming car wreck.

What we have here "appears" to be another scam by the zimmermans. Another thing this trio has in common.

fridge, Spazito.. I'm getting hungry now but trying to wait so I won't be eating so early.

I use my fridge as a huge photo album of my family and friends.. and PBO history, with those pocket magnet frames. It's delicious inside and out.

insinuates that Comrade Snowie has a 56% approval rating, but AS USUAL, not a single link. Just to clarify, that number refers to the number of people who think the NSA has gone too far in it's domestic surveillance, not approval of our own dear Comrade. That was a sneaky bit of conflation, if you're not paying attention.

That's just like "Dennis Kucinich is hugely popular in Europe", only to find out 2-1/2 years later the poster was referring to an internet poll, and couldn't even provide a link to that. My suggestion? Huge grain of salt.
