that best describe our current political situation regarding the nsa and the Syria mess

Here's mine

Lyrics

You take a mortal man,
And put him in control
Watch him become a god,
Watch peoples heads a'roll
A'roll...

Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes,
Swaying to the Symphony...
Of Destruction

Acting like a robot,
It's metal brain corrodes.
You try to take it's pulse,
Before the head explodes.
Explodes...

Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes,
Swaying to the Symphony...
Of Destruction

The earth starts to rumble
World powers fall
A'warring for the heavens,
A peaceful man stands tall
Tall...

Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes,
Swaying to the Symphony...

Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes,
Swaying to the Symphony...
Swaying to the Symphony...
Of Destruction

How about some Bach instead?

This recording, from 1955-6 has sold more than almost any heavy metal. I've updated this post to post the complete recording. And, it IS heavy metal. Pianos are the definition of heavy metal.

And yes. That's one dude playing one piano. Fortunately, it's Glenn Gould, who brought J.S. Bach to the top 40 of classical recordings of all time.

It's remarkable music performed by an astounding, and eclectic performer.

Room 101- Terrorball

Download "The Gadfly" for free at room101music.bandcamp.com

An atrocity exhibition is a prime time horror show
Thinking everyone is out to get you cause the TV told you so

You want it, you got it, we'll pour some more blood on it
force feed you endless slaughter, everybody say

FUCK YEAH LETS BOMB IT.

Take a look in the mirror
You see a culture of fear
They got you thinking that everything can kill you
You can't trust anyone, except god and your gun
can't get away from the non stop fucked up death ray

Every fucking statistic tells you that the worlds coming to an end
So lock your doors, duck tape your windows and be sure to sanitize your hands

You want it, you got it, we'll pour some more blood on it
force feed you endless slaughter, everybody say

FUCK YEAH LETS BOMB IT.

Take a look in the mirror
You see a culture of fear
They got you thinking that everything can kill you
You can't trust anyone, except god and your gun

Forward! He cried
(from the rear)
and the front rank died
And the Generals sat
as the lines on the map
moved from side to side
Black black black
and Blue
And who knows which is which?
and who is who?

It brings to mind the whole Leading from Behind bullshit notion.

Ok, maybe not the best exemplar of the current heavy metal genre...but they introduced the term with "I like smoke and lightning, heavy metal thunder, racin' with the wind and the feeling that I'm under"

After a brief history of the colonies and early nationhood, we have....

And though the past has it's share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey

The spirit was freedom and justice
And it's keepers seem friendly and kind
It's leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind

'Cause the people got fat and grew lazy
Now their vote is like a meaningless joke
You know they talk about law, about order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told

'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watchin'

Our cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand

We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who wins, you know we can't pay the cost

'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into the noose
And it just sits there watching

America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster.

The fact(s) that the Grateful Dead...

a) were profoundly mediocre
b) has at least 2 members who are regulars at Bohemian Grove

goes pretty far in explaining why they became the band that managed to amass legions of devoted followers without any major COINTELPRO interventions at their shows.

It burns deep down inside of me
We have ourselves to blame
Not questioning
Accepted as the truth

Debate this fight it's just cause
The facts do not supports theirs
To liberate a people
And rid them of tyrant rule

Is it time to make a change?
Are we closer than before?
Can we help them break away?
Are we profiting from war?

It's time to make a change?
Intrigued, got your attention
Deceived, since the inception
Our brave fight for what reason

Compelled, can we clean up this mess
The loss of loved ones a perverse request
They continue the same rhetoric
These derelicts that profit, win or lose

Is it time to make a change?
Are we closer than before?
Can we help them break away?
Are we profiting from war?

It's time to make a change?

I'll eat my hat if theres any that fit better (not really but it sounded good). Hang on tight, its an almost 10 minute ride: (on edit - this whole album...just about every song on it...fit the current situation in one way or another)

Halls of Justice Painted Green
Money Talking
Power Wolves Beset Your Door
Hear Them Stalking
Soon You'll Please Their Appetite
They Devour
Hammer of Justice Crushes You
Overpower

The Ultimate in Vanity
Exploiting Their Supremacy
I Can't Believe the Things You Say
I Can't Believe
I Can't Believe the Price You Pay
Nothing Can Save You

Justice Is Lost
Justice Is Raped
Justice Is Gone
Pulling Your Strings
Justice Is Done
Seeking No Truth
Winning Is All
Find it So Grim
So True
So Real

Apathy Their Stepping Stone
So Unfeeling
Hidden Deep Animosity
So Deceiving
Through Your Eyes Their Light Burns
Hoping to Find
Inquisition Sinking You
With Prying Minds

The Ultimate in Vanity
Exploiting Their Supremacy
I Can't Believe the Things You Say
I Can't Believe
I Can't Believe the Price You Pay
Nothing Can Save You

Justice Is Lost
Justice Is Raped
Justice Is Gone
Pulling Your Strings
Justice Is Done
Seeking No Truth
Winning Is All
Find it So Grim
So True
So Real

Lady Justice Has Been Raped
Truth Assassin
Rolls of Red Tape Seal Your Lips
Now You're Done in
Their Money Tips Her Scales Again
Make Your Deal
Just What Is Truth? I Cannot Tell
Cannot Feel

The Ultimate in Vanity
Exploiting Their Supremacy
I Can't Believe the Things You Say
I Can't Believe
I Can't Believe the Price We Pay
Nothing Can Save Us

Justice Is Lost
Justice Is Raped
Justice Is Gone
Pulling Your Strings
Justice Is Done
Seeking No Truth
Winning Is All
Find it So Grim
So True
So Real
Seeking No Truth
Winning Is All
Find it So Grim

New Model Army's "The Charge" has lyrics that sum it all up perfectly (a common thing with them, actually...my favorite lyricist in rock). "The unity bond is broken and the loyalty songs are fake..."

Our history speaks in thunder from a thousand village halls
In blood and sweat and sacrifice, in honouring every call
So the forces gathered against the thorn a-piercing in their side
A brave new world is beckoning so the olden world must die.

In the offices of the city, at all the tables of oak and power
The snares are laid and baited for the approaching of the hour
A hundred justifications and the presses are ready to roll
The gateways to the nation they are firmly under control

Chorus:
On, on, on, cried the leaders at the back
We went galloping down the blackened hills
And into the gaping trap
The bridges are burnt behind us and there's waiting guns ahead
Into the valley of death rode the brave hundreds

We called for some assistance from the friends that we had known
But this is the 1980s and we were on our own
We never felt like heroes or martyrs to a cause
Just battle-weary soldiers in a bloody civil war

The massacre now is over and the order new enshrined
While a quarter of the nation are abandoned far behind
Their leaders offer the cliche words, so righteous in defeat
But no one needs morality when there isn't enough to eat
The unity bond is broken and the loyalty songs are fake
I'll screw my only brother for even a glimpse at a piece of the cake
We only cry in private here behind the shuttered glass
When we think of the charge of this brigade, the severing of the past

Chorus:
On, on, on, cried the leaders at the back
We went galloping down the blackened hills
And into the gaping trap
The bridges are burnt behind us and there's waiting guns ahead
Into the valley of death rode the brave hundreds

Clouds of dust are rising to the sky,
legion marching all over the place.
They omen doom, death and decay.
Run for your life now
if you want to survive.

War has come, bringing death,
lust and pain soiling our home.
Mourns and cries kindle hate,
taint our hearts, corrupt our souls.

My shattered people will be mended now.
I know that united we will fight,
brothers in arms free to the end.
Rise up and fight now
if you want to survive!

War has come, bringing death,
lust and pain soiling our home.
Mourns and cries kindle hate,
taint our hearts, corrupt our souls.

War has come, bringing death,
lust and pain soiling our home.
Mourns and cries kindle hate,
taint our hearts, corrupt our souls.

30. War Pigs, Black Sabbath
Sun Sep 8, 2013, 04:25 PM
Sep 2013

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait 'til their judgement day comes
Yeah!

Now in darkness world stops turning
Ashes where the bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees the war pig's crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan laughing spreads his wings
oh lord yeah!
