What if they gave an election

and nobody came? Would it change anything? Does voting do anything other than legitimize the status quo? What if millions of people chose not to vote and let it be known it was an act of conscience rather than apathy? Does the failure of the overwhelming majority to vote delegitimize the representation of a representative democracy? What would happen?

talks about it. Millions of us who do vote don't have a candidate on the list who we really like and agree with, but they all act like they're representing the will of the people. Staying away from the polls won't accomplish a thing.

Not voting is playing right in to the right wing's hands.

Think about it.

In the states where voter ID laws are being passed; it's not the Democrats who are proposing such laws. There is a very strategic agenda in place by the Republicans to limit who has the ability to vote in elections, and it doesn't benefit the Democrats.

When election turnout is high, Democrats generally win. They win big.

So not voting is not an option.

The obvious correction to your question is not allowed on DU.

The reply right above me is informative.
