over his ice blue eyes. Every word of his send chills up their spine and they thrill to his next brilliant move.
There's really nothing to be done. Only an antidote of injecting wolf blood into a person has a slight chance of diminishing the fascination and infatuation with the Russian leader.
It is best to realize Obama has been bettered by the pale enigma from Leningrad.

Hello All. This is my goodbye. I don't believe I've ever done this
before although I've read others say their goodbyes. At those times, it was usually a result of the internal squabbles that accompanied primaries when people lashed out at each other's candidates and someone couldn't stand the viciousness.
Well, as I've said before I was glad I found this site in 2003 when there were hardly any voices out there allowing us to feel we weren't a crazy minority in the wilderness. It was before Air America, Colbert Report, and so many other important additions to the progressive universe. It was a lifeline.
But so many years later after we've won what we all thought we were fighting for, there is a tragic kind of direction I've seen in this site. I gave to this site repeatedly through donations and group discussions/activities. I worked offline because of some of the things we discussed online. Yet all I hear is so much in the way of attacks on Obama. I guess because there are so many ways to find straight up news coverage of what's happening with Obama administration, this site sees itself as eternal police force and focuses on attacks.
I can't take it anymore. There are many long time voices of DU I just don't see here anymore which is sad. They were true progressives but also know that just because you backed a winner you don't get the club out and start beating the winner.
I'm accused of mental illness for not putting up with this. FOr not putting up with any unfair treatment. Okay. No problem. I admit to purposefully trying to get my message heard through provocative post titles. BUt I can see when it's over. This is not productive for me and I'm sad the direction this place has gone. Maybe it should just be called Opposition Underground. It seems no matter who is in office, the focus of the group here is to attack mercilessly whoever is currently in powr.
Good luck with that. Thanks to the many loyal posters who are still here. I've appreciated some of your work of late in amongst the garbage. Thanks you skinner and other admins..

Pretzel_Warrior
(8,361 posts)but there are plenty of posts here that are clearly hateful and have name calling of Obama, Kerry, and other Democrats and no real substantive criticism. It is a piling on that goes on at times. Yes, it is hate.
ozone_man
(4,825 posts)And if Obama and Kerry and Samantha Powers are beating the drums of war, as we are all so very tired of hearing, some of that naturally trickles though to hating the drum beaters. Back in 2002/2003 it was Bush and Colin Powell lying to us, and most folks of with any intelligence/skepticism saw through the WMD claims of Colin Powell. So it is best to err on the side of safety to prevent another war situation. Besides, we have enough domestic problems to take care of.

MADem
(135,425 posts)This place does get super-shitty at times, and sometimes it can get mean and ugly, too.
I stepped back for a little bit when people were getting so damn nasty about Hillary Clinton--it just got too vicious and mean. I voted for HRC in the primary and POTUS in the general, and I thought the vitriol here was stupid, childish and nasty. It looked like Free Republic through the looking glass--dumbass assholes carping at each other like stupid buffoons.
I figure you can't force people to have insight. If they want to be jerks, let them. At the end of the day, they've gotta live with their views, and explain them when it's revealed, as it will be, in time, that Pootie ain't an altruist--he's a KGB operative and the best at what he does. If Pootie had his way, we'd all be speaking Russian and he wouldn't have to endure the sham of elections every few years, where he trades off with his little puppet and pretends he has less power.
One thing Pootie can't control, and that's the march of time. He's getting older, like we all are.

(8,361 posts)so it is not as though someone needs to specifically go pee in the pool to get differing opinions heard. so sorry that you are upset and lashing out.
Pretzel_Warrior
(8,361 posts)CreekDog
(46,192 posts)if anyone doesn't take issue with that, then that would be sad.
you have left DU, complained about DU, been tombstoned by DU and are now resorting to making up complaints about DUers to claim make yourself some sort of hero over an adversary here that doesn't exist.
maybe it's the community here that you don't like.
that you've wrongly accused so many here of something that is a fiction, maybe that means you have issues with us and your issues aren't based on something you feel you can honestly state here.
Pretzel_Warrior
(8,361 posts)Seems to be coming along nicely.
CreekDog
(46,192 posts)but I guess it's only okay when you accuse almost all of DU falsely as you did.
than when I post precisely what you have posted and accuse you of the very thing you have done.
that's not allowed, by your standards.
we could end this now...
ONE EXAMPLE of DUers "swooning" or the equivalent over Putin or Putin's policies.
ONE EXAMPLE is fair to ask of you when you claim it's a commonly held point of view here.
or else you don't even believe it.
if you believed it you'd be falling over yourself to demonstrate that this is a real thing.
but despite you discussing things extensively in your thread, not one example, not even an anonymized example of this behavior you so sincerely take issue with.
because it's all made up.
the most charitable thing i can say about your post is that you've complained about what you think happens here which doesn't actually happen.
but now that you won't post examples, that's too charitable. you know you're complaining about things that don't happen here.
and you're caught.

(9,436 posts)equipment or men under arms until 1944 for the invasion to work. The Allies didn't let the Soviets bleed for nefarious reasons. We just weren't ready as we were fighting in the Pacific (41-45), North Africa (Nov 42-May 43), Sicily (July-August 43) and Italy (Sept 43- May 45). In no way, does any of that diminish FDR.
For D-Day, our troops were well-supplied, well-trained and had combat experience to take on the Germans for a prolonged campaign to end the war.
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)A lot of the USSR's war dead died not at the hands of the Nazis, but at the hands of fellow "countrymen", or at least, people from other parts of the USSR. For example, a lot of Ukrainians sided with Hitler because they saw him as a way to liberate them from Stalin. The same goes for people in the Baltic republics who were forcibly annexed into the USSR after the war started.
Unfortunately, people in the Baltic republics were doomed one way or the other. For example, Latvia was annexed into the USSR in August 1940, and in June 1941 Stalin began massive deportations of "anti-Soviet elements" to Siberia. But when the Nazis invaded later that year, they began their purge of gypsies, Jews, and other Latvian groups they didn't like. So really, it's tough to determine how many victims in the USSR were "sacrificed" by Hitler, and how many were "sacrificed" by Stalin.

Maybe they are projecting when they call Obama's supporters fanbots and the like?
There's another one I can't find, but its first four are "I love this woman!" types of posts.
cui bono
(19,926 posts)So there.
Personally, I have alerted on OPs from both viewpoints, but to no avail. Seems OPs meant only to ridicule and be divisive are allwed on DU.
As I mentioned to someone else in a discussion yesterday, I believe that DU's moderating system is abysmal. There should be zero tolerance of uncivil posts.
I made the post you replied to in response to the OP, in the same manner of the OP, to prove a point. And I continue to make posts about a certain group because I feel they are deserving of it and as long as they are allowed to ban people at will for absolutely no legit reason I feel it is fair game to call them out for it. However, I would prefer if all of it stopped and this board was better moderated so that everyone were allowed to speak their mind wherever they felt like it and it was always done in a civil and respectful manner.
Edit: And along with that the whole fan club mentality. In the case of Obama there are those that simply cannot bear to hear any criticism of him at all and also proclaim him brilliant and a chess master no matter what he does. So being civil is part of it, and not partaking in team sports and idol worship is also part of it.
As to Warren, I think we can all admit she is walking the walk. I have yet to see her sell out, although if she does I will be critical. But I will judge her based on her policies, as I do Obama.
As to others in the media, Tweety, etc... I find it funny how when they say one thing everyone loves them then they say another and they're a tool.
treestar
(82,383 posts)So can the Elizabeth Warren Group. Go in there and try to insult her. Or any group. So it is not fair game and is ad hominem.
It's one place where it's not anti-Obama all the time, so why it is so resented I don't know. They have the GD to "criticize" in and it's amazing this is supposed to be a place for Democrats when the GD has more negative than positive about Democrats.

(19,926 posts)posts of people who are okay with our president starting a war that goes against international law, okay with unconstituional spying on Americans, okay with drone strikes, okay with Wall Street in the WH, okay with Wall Street getting bailed out rather than Main St, okay with putting SS on the negotiating table, okay with unprecedented whistleblower prosecutions...
Those who you see criticizing are criticizing policy, not just the person. Most of the defenders are defending the person and throwing out their principles by doing so since they are defending the NSA spying, military action without a UN resolution, denying SS was ever offered up...
When Democrats fail us it's up to us to try to bring them back and call them out. Obama said it himself, hold his feet to the fire.
treestar
(82,383 posts)Or are eager to use the most extreme verbiage possible to describe anything.
Democrats are not against every military action ever. Who would expect that? That's what the freepers may claim, but we aren't. Gassing people with chemical weapons is what's illegal.
"Spying on Americans" does not describe the actions debated, and the courts are there to decide what is constitutional or not.
The board is for Democrats, and has been taken over by those who don't support Democratic policies, and have some idealistic dream vision in their heads about what Democratic policies are.
cui bono
(19,926 posts)and who are now defending the actions of their president that they would have been up in arms about if it had been Bush. Many who were up in arms about it when it was Bush. That's what "freepers" would do, to use your terminology.

(90,648 posts)Accusing BOGgers of swooning is par for the course with some around here, and perhaps it is a measure of our flaccidity, er, placidity that we don't seem to really take offense at the term.
But apparently turn about is not fair play. Humorously pointing out that a certain shirtless Russian leader has a fan club here is a no-no, and referring to their behavior as swooning simply shows us up as the homophobic trash we really are.

Let me just say that no one has to be swooning over Putin in order to think that maybe Putin endorsing the idea that neither the rebels nor the regime should be in control over the chemical weapons is a step forward - which we all know Putin would not have taken if it were not for the steps that Obama has taken.

you haven't provided one single, solitary example for something you say is common here at DU.
because YOU DON'T EVEN BELIEVE WHAT YOU'VE POSTED.
it's all BS. you wanted some attention, so you posted that something is believed here that isn't and unsurprisingly, nearly everyone doesn't like Putin and is obviously protesting when it's said they are adoring someone, sexually even, someone most people here despise.
if you tell us all that we believe X when almost all of us believe Y, you can get lots of arguments going.
but you have to lie to do that.
obviously telling the lies are worth it to you.

(31,893 posts)A hot flush suffused my face and neck. My breath caught in my throat. I had to lower my gaze as I fought to quell the trembling that seemed to spread from my very core, rendering all my limbs weak. I stammered a whispered, "Yes, sir." and pressed back against the wall of the cottage as I struggled to hold myself from falling faint.
His hard calloused hand gently stroked my cheek, then softly grasped my chin, raising my head up again, to meet his searching eyes. "You must come with me, little comrade. You are meant for finer things than harvesting potatoes in the hot sun."
Without another word his strong hands clasped my waist and lifted me onto the bare back of his waiting steed. A moment later, with the grace of a mighty lion, he vaulted onto the muscular back of his beautiful golden mount, settling in front of me. "Hold on to me, little comrade, hold tight!" And with a forceful nudge of his heels against the horse's flanks, we set off at a gallop.
Oh, how to describe that wild reckless run across the steppes! Flying over the ground, my thighs pressed tightly against the rolling muscles of the galloping horse, my arms wrapped tightly around his muscular torso, pressing my breasts against the warm, sweat-dampened skin of his bare back.
I had no sense of time, nor of the miles passing. I felt utterly taken outside myself, with no thought but for the ecstatic sensations of the wind passing by and the heat the bodies beneath and before me.
It seemed a timeless time until we reached a shaded glade at the edge of a forest. With just a word he brought his steed to a stop, then dismounted in a single graceful leap, and his sinewy hands wrapped around my waist and set me on the ground.
Without a word he wrapped his arms around me, and suddenly his warm lips were pressed against mine. I felt myself quivering with desire and surrendered utterly. As one we sank down upon the mossy bed, surrounded by the tall fragrant pines towering above us. My heartbeat was racing as his hot mouth slid down to my throat, while his hands expertly began to unlace my bodice. I felt his manhood swelling against my trembling thighs.
"Oh yes, take me!" I moaned...

(1,954 posts)The US is the one trying to start an international conflict here, and Putin, wether you like him, despise him, or sees him as an actor in the international scene with which acts under positive and negative actions at times, is the one helping prevent it. One can argue that he's not doing it as a humanitarian action, but I think he will get many honest thanks from around the world if he's able to prevent it. Hope he's able to stand on this.
I'm not entirely confident, though. I think soon another "reason" to intervene in Syria will appear. This is part of a long time strategy to get Syria rid of its secular government, shared by the Arab states and the US, though for different reasons. The authentic protests of the Syrian people were hijacked by foreigners, either jihadists or paid mercenaries, and agents of the US.
In orther to stop wars a very deep reform in the US foreign policy and the country's economic dependence on the war/oil industries would be needed. I thought Obama would be the one to propose it...
And, as shown, Obama also takes his shirt off. Wow. Big deal.
