Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhat is going on here? So a politician on the Conservative side
passes away, and some of us are grave dancing! That is so wrong. No matter how opposing he was, he deserves a bit of sympathy on our side, especially for his family, wife and children. These posts will be here for posterity, do you really want Briebart's children to see how Democrats responded to their Dad's passing.
RIP Mr. Briebart! Condolences to your family and children.
That is all I have to say!
Edited to add that some of us are not as sympathetic as we portray. Kinda sad at the no response on here!
Anyways, I still maintain my condolences to Mr. Briebart's family and children. RIP Mr. Briebart!

(6,238 posts)He was scum, a paid lapdog for the 1%. I'll mourn him no more than I mourned the death of Reagan. If there is a hell, I'm sure they met there.

I never speak badly of the dead, may he rest in peace!

(6,238 posts)Jim Jones was a cult leader who was under the influence of various drugs and was mentally ill. It doesn't make his actions any better, but Brietbart was in full control of himself and knew exactly what he was doing. Jones, like Marshall Applewhite(Do) was likely insane.

(5,704 posts)Jones to move there with over 900 people and manipulated the system, paid the Burnham govt in US dollars and ultimately a US senator was gunned down.
You would not believe me, we had no idea there was a cult in the interior of Guyana until Venezuela broadcasted the news!

(6,238 posts)What you said has nothing to do with what I said, which was that comparing Brietbart to a cult leader isn't an accurate analogy, because most cult leaders suffer from various mental illnesses. It wasn't a big secret that People's Temple had moved to Guyana, the families of the members knew, that what prompted the congressional investigation.

(69,014 posts)Well, IMHO God has prevented anyone else from having a life of good work destroyed by Breitbart.
It's faith-renewing and worthy of celebration.

(154,021 posts)just to save the grave dancing.
There is a reality about him and a little perspective might help... how many Americans have heard of Andrew (well until today)... the other question how many Americans have heard of Father Coughlin? That is his fate.
But we can save this grave dancing.
Footnotes in history, that is what MOST of these people are...
by the way yes, he was doing the work for the 1%... I prefer to keep my eye on them, to be honest and in the METHOD to create an echo chamber, an effective one to boot.
But I will join Abachus, in fact have already, in refusing to break out the dancing shoes.

(6,238 posts)As for Father Coughlin, you are right. I remember his name mentioned in history books, but it was only a few sentences. So they really are footnotes.
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)but truly footnotes.
I worry about David Koch. He SHOULD get a few chapters.... but he uses these footnotes to carry water. The same goes for his brother.

(5,704 posts)children are hurting. We are democrats, we should be sympathetic, especially since his children are so young!
Hope the children have families to surround them and help them to grow up and realise their dreams, absent of their dad.

(5,704 posts)at such a young age. His politics is what he believed in and his children and wife are now vulnerable. Hope the GOP family will help take care of them in the interim!

(21,977 posts)They didn't get to choose their parents. She chose that waste of human flesh.
Having said that, I hope she does better the second time around, and that the kids get the kind of father figure they deserve.
But hey, shit happens.

(69,014 posts)We don't hear much of him today because the lives he injured were common lives of no importance to the history books.
But the pain caused mattered to those families, those inconsequential people hounded by the hatreds Coughlin stirred.
Had Breitbart lived, he would surely have aspired to maim higher and that might have won him that coveted place in history.
But Breitbart will ruin no other lives. Unless, his children feel inspired to continue Daddy's work.
I'm not dancing. I'm relieved.

Let it be!

(1,674 posts)brings hell to his kids and spouse. They may be relieved his suffering is over. No doubt his kids witnessed his disease. I never saw him not brimming over with rage. I doubt they loved him, more likely they feared him.
