I'm hoping we get our retirement check tomorrow and that the VA pay will be on time next week.

On edit:
I also hope there isn't a furlough at the VA Hospital

And we were just becoming unpoor. Some how we will figure away out. I've been thinking about going into the same biz as Nancy Botwin until the government takes out these terrorists holding us hostage. I suck at chemistry so the Walter White way is out.

But I feel your pain.

Hubby's retirement check and VA disability checks arrived on schedule.

We aren't counting on them showing up next month, though.

Our undersecretary for management, who has found enough off-year money to keep most of us on the books even if there is a shut down. Not sure how long that accounting trick will allow us to get paid, but it'll probably take us through the weekend, which I'm betting will be enough time.

Sorry Hedge... you should think about rewording it and thinking of it from the standpoint of someone facing their loss of income. I know you meant well though

going to be involuntarily taking a hit for the rest of us, I thought it was the least I could do to express some appreciation for their sacrifice.

It seems the Republicans have spent the last 14 years spreading pain from one group to the next - people who work for private companies, then people who work for state and local governments, now federal employees!

Honestly, I agree. A shutdown is preferable to caving to the Rethug demands. It's just hard to take yet another financial hit after barely catching up from last time.
