Call for Action: Expose Ron Paul to OWS
Ron Paul fans are trying to infiltrate OWS and get them enthralled with his pied piper routine. Let's show them the facts, and nip their infiltration in the bud, shall we?
Here is Ron Paul's voting record. Compare his voting record against the views of the 99% and OWS. Here are a few frightening examples of how he votes against the 99% and the environment. I'm just posting his voting record, not opinions or spin doctoring or anything. This is his voting record. Show it to all of OWS. http://www.votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/296/ Requires Public Disclosure of Bonuses and Golden Parachute Arrangements Amendment Adopted - Ron Paul voted NAY Requires Crowdfunding Intermediaries to Disclose Methods of Compensation to Investors Amendment - Ron Paul voted NAY Delays EPA Emissions Regulations for Cement Manufacturers - Ron Paul voted Yea Repealing Provisions Limiting Funding For Endangered Species Act - Ron Paul voted NAY Repealing the Health Care Bill - RON PAUL VOTED YEA ![]() FDA Food Safety Modernization Act - RON PAUL VOTED NAY!!! Mine Safety Act - Ron Paul voted NAY Extension of Certain Unemployment Benefits Bill Failed - Ron Paul voted NAY Infant Mortality Pilot Programs - NAY Aid To States for Medicaid, Teacher Employment, and Other Purposes - Nay "Whistleblower Protection" for Offshore Oil Workers - NAY Offshore Drilling Regulations and Other Energy Law Amendments - Nay Unemployment Benefits Extension Concurrence Vote - Nay Flood Insurance Program Extension - NAY Temporary Tariff Suspensions and Reductions? Ron Paul voted YEA on this. Edited: And here's a REAL doozy: Oct. 9, 1998 HR 3150 Bankruptcy Reform bill Conference Report Adopted - House (300 - 125) - Ron Paul voted YEA

2. Thanks--just copied and sent to my friend's wife
She and I are working to bring him to his senses re :Ron Paul.......My friend is no conservative, far from it, and in fact has probably never voted for a repub in his life (he's 61). But he's so disgusted with Obama that he's seriously considering Paul....I think this will help. Thanks again.
P.S. Just sent this quote from Paul to her a couple of days ago: I'm pretty confident that being an intelligent, progressive guy, he will see this and the ones you posted and come to his senses. “Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5 percent of blacks have sensible political opinions, i.e. support the free market, individual liberty and the end of welfare and affirmative action.” |

4. Ouch. I have some advice for you if it counts?
Tell him to channel his disgust with Obama toward community activism or supporting OWS.
It is foolish for us to rely on any ONE politician to save us. We need to start saving each other. Spread the message! It's "Yes, WE can", not "Yes, he can". |

23. Thanks--he is a supporter of OWS etc.
Generally a solid if utterly disillusioned progressive ; that's what's so weird about this. I'm confident that Karen and I will cure him of his little Ron Paul flirtation but I seriously doubt he'll vote for Obama again (although he will no way in hell vote for Romney or any of the rest of the realistically possible candidates). I think we can at least make sure he gets out and votes for local and state Dems...
Thanks again, abq |

5. Ron Paul would be the DEATH of OWS.
These people WANT the Govt to act in their best interests on things like education, healthcare, jobs, etc. NOT dismantle the Govt and let the people become savages by abolishing education, healthcare subsidies, medicaid/medicare, and promote fascism that outsources jobs because they believe in profits over people. OWS is the exact opposite of Ron Paul: PEOPLE OVER PROFITS.

8. Paul supporters don't get anywhere with Occupy. They don't, and can't, understand Occupy.
They are not a threat to us. Their corporatist philosophy is the complete opposite of ours.
We just want them to leave us alone and they just want to feed on our good energy. |

15. Please. We're not stupid. Nobody, absolutely NOBODY, at Occupy would buy their RW corporatist BS.
The only Ron Paul supporters near Occupy are Ron Paul infiltrators. Their intentions have nothing to do with our intentions.
They are just trying to get attention by being in the proximity of a genuine powerful force for real change. They are so extremely annoying with their sycophantic true believer need to have a daddy figure tell them what to do, and we can't force them to go away. end of story. |

16. Agreed
In fact, this is what I have heard from several different occupy people in different locations. The Ron Paul people come in and try to start discussions and occasionally pull out their Ayn Rand BS and are refuted in all their arguments.

18. "need to have a daddy figure" I like that one.
OWS is still leaderless and will not fall for a cult of personality. That alone should sink the Ron Paul crowd's aspirations.

12. Make posters of your post and give them to clued in OWS people,
to spread the word. Any OWS person that does not know Paul is poison is clueless. But, in a good way, OWS people getting behind Paul to get him nominated as the republican presidential candidate is one of the best things that could happen. Once Paul's record is known to OWS people, they will drop him like a hot potato. My hope is that the OWS people that are clueless about Ron Paul find out the day after he is nominated.

14. At the pre-raid Occupy Los Angeles site, there was a sizable contingent
of Ron Paul supporters initially, but they had disappeared by the end of the first month of occupation and they never bothered to make an appearance (as a voting bloc, anyway) at any General Assembly I attended.
They may have had some influence on one committee (Demands and Objectives) when it surfaced a demand to 'End the Fed.' But I understood that there were many OLA folk who were opposed to the Fed who were not Paul-bots. (FWIW, I did not and do not share that antipathy to the Fed.) I found the vast majority of OLA Occupiers to be VERY WELL INFORMED and innoculated against the siren song of Paul, to the point where it seemed as if the Ron Paul folk were mostly preaching to the converted and to the occasional 'crazy' person who would happen upon them. |
