Is anyone still stuck in the Obama Caves?

Everyone please check to see if your spelunking buddy is safely out, or we'll have to send in a search party.

1. Most of the cavemen have left the cave and went to the Kabuki Theater.

Promoting the idea that the GOP deliberately sabotaged itself so that Democrats could save face when they enact massive austerity.

Someone send those assholes in Congress their SAG cards right away.

3. If Obama can bring this to completion, that fundamentally changes the outlook for his last 3 years

I don't think this is a time to gloat. It ain't over until it is over. Moreover, all we achieved was to survive a hostage crisis, and for all we know, the terrorists are still on the loose, ready to strike again in a few weeks.

But this was a stand Obama and the Dems had to take. I'm proud to be on their side today. Now there is at least some hope that we can move away from kamikaze tactics and do some governing that will actually help Americans, and help America be a better nation in the 21st Century.

5. I don't believe in "jinxes"

Look, if the doomsayers and naysayers can have their say, then I'm entitled to a little sooth now and then.

7. The doomsayers and naysayers have had their asses handed to them recently...

from the shutdown to the Yellen appointment to Syria, Iran and now the debt ceiling.

They've been thoroughly deflated and defeated....

10. His predisposition to cave during negotiations was not imaginary

That is why this case is so remarkable. The GOP never believed he could do it.

As I always say....underestimate him at your peril...

17. He was caving BEFORE the teabaggers ascended.

I think the most charitable thing to say is that after 5 years of getting his ass kicked by a bunch of intransigent morons, he finally learned his lesson. I am glad for that, but can only wax poetic about how we would be better off it he had more of a quick learner.

Now the challenge is to make sure he doesn't revert to his old ways during the next 3 years.

19. Lol. Show me an unhappy liberal and I'll show you

A liberal. There is a time for everything. A little exultation is appropriate right now.

13. Yes. As are we all until the end of the week.

While I'd like to believe in total GOP capitulation, or that the position they've staked out polls too crappily to be tenable, history teaches us that terrible concessions must always be made to them.

Some face-saving token wouldn't upset me, and if a clean deal is forthcoming I hope to be among the first to applaud the first time the president didn't have to cave.

If Cruz can be muzzled for a day or two, we might just come out of this with an economy.

15. No cave but no victory.

Unless you call a sequester which puts spending at less than Paul Ryan's budget a victory.
