Casey Kasem, 81, the former radio-personality is in terminally ill health and has only a few months left to live, according to his wife. I am posting this on my phone so I can't post any links, but this is definately sad news, being that I was a HUGE Scooby-Doo fan when I was younger.

October 03, 2013 / TVGuide
Casey Kasem's children are in a battle with their stepmother, who has reportedly refused to let them visit their sick father, according to the New York Daily News.
Kasem, who suffers from advanced Parkinson's disease, has been living in his Holmby Hills, Calif., home, where the children have not been allowed to visit. "My dad is very sick, and we have been completely shut off from him for the last three months," his daughter Kerri said. "There is no money issue here, we just want to see our dad. We love him, and everyone knows his kids and grandkids are a source of joy for him."

I will be doing a radio show soon on the same theme (right now I do news/politics/misc on Friday night show, new show soon, probably on Saturday nights, for paranormal/weird stuff, and a music show during the week mimicking the Wolfman).

(53,339 posts)I remember him as one of the disc jockeys at KRLA in Los Angeles in the '60s (along with Bob Eubanks, another KRLA jock). And, after that, hosting America's Top 40.

I don't remember Bob Eubanks from the radio, but from the Newlywed Game, and because he owned part of a local horse and rider supply store. He once fitted me for a new pair of cowboy boots when I was about 9.

(53,339 posts)We had the same dentist in Granada Hills, and his appointment was right after mine. So "Dr. Fig" introduced us because he knew I'd get a charge out of it. Eubanks was one of my favorite DJs at the time, when KRLA and KFWB were the top 2 local rock stations.

I also remember seeing him in a cheesy horror movie from the '70s: "The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant"

(45,319 posts)Casey was active in advancing the image of Arab Americans. He made so much money it is hard to even explain, but when he was the 'voice of NBC' he made more than Brandon Tartikoff who was head of the network. Insanely wealthy man.
