I just spoke to a coworker and this is who the ACA is for. His mother has become disabled and her monthly premium was more than she was getting in her disability payment. No "insurance company" would offer her insurance because of her preexisting condition. Some fly by night insurance company picked her up and she was paying through her nose just so she could get her medications. It took her 3 weeks to register but once she saw what her insurance was going to cost with the subsidies she started to cry. She is so happy now. She can actually live again.

(3,182 posts)I waited to sign on and start, just because I figured what's the rush since it doesn't go into effect until next year.......
Anyway, I saw several plan available for myself and my daughter that range from $85.00 - 150.00 per month for insurance. We have both been uninsured almost my entire life and for my daughter's entire 18 years on this planet. What a relief even the lowest paying plan will bring to us!
I have a chronic, pre-existing condition and those are my prices! I'm floored. Of course, we're poor and if our teabagger Governor had accepted Medicaid, our premiums would have been free, but I'm not complaining! We'll have insurance! Now, I just have to talk with my doctors to see which plan they are networked in.

BTW, I was on the site for less than an hour and it worked flawlessly yesterday. Not one hiccup.
The Comcast web site, on the other hand, wouldn't let me pay my bill.......kept timing out.
Ironic, no?

(3,182 posts)I had put off going into the office to cut down on my cable bill, so when I had to go in to pay my bill, I did that as well.
Dropped $50.00 off my monthly bill thanks to their non-functioning website.
Where's all those "reporters" now?
