(36,827 posts)My airplane can use auto gas, but not any that contains ethanol. I suspect that's also why they don't sell ethanol gas in Alaska, but it may also have to do with extremely cold temperatures.

(36,827 posts)A few airports have what they call mogas, which is ethanol free. However it's illegal to use it on street cars because the taxes are different.

(36,827 posts)If the refinery (or refineries) in your area don't have a market for ethanol free gas, they aren't going to distribute it to that area.

(36,827 posts)The whole area around here is sitting on top of a huge natural gas reserve. They have gas wells even inside residential neighborhoods. Thankfully there isn't any areas within a mile from my house where they can put one.

(36,827 posts)The problem is there just isn't any property within a mile of my place that is large enough to support a well. That's not to say they couldn't buy someone out, tear down the property, and build a well, but there just wouldn't be any practical reason for doing so since they have about a one mile range underground.

(22,308 posts)I clicked on MI and got the list. The only one near me is a marina I am semi-familiar with. I am sure they are selling gasoline only to boats.
Looking over the MI list I noticed that many are marinas.
