Nobody likes lawyers. I can easily imagine an impartial jury awarding a large sum to Dominion if Trumps shady lawyers are the Defendants.
If Trump is a Defendant, however, jury selection becomes very tricky, and the likelihood of a big jury award goes way down. Its best to keep the jurys personal opinions about Trump out of the trial.

They want a conviction and Trump cultists wont convict
They want a forum to present their case, to persuade the world that their machines are accurate
