LONDON Britains coastal residents were bracing Monday for more flooding with lashing winds, rain and high tides expected.
Waves of up to 27 feet (8.2 meters) have been recorded at Lands End, the most southern tip of the U.K. In Aberystwyth in Wales, seafront homes, businesses and student residence halls were evacuated as high tides hit the Welsh coast.
Weather forecasting body the Met Office warned of wind gusts of up to 70 mph (113 kph), accompanied by exceptionally large waves, along the coasts of Wales, southwest England and Northern Ireland.
At least seven people have died in a wave of stormy weather that has battered Britain since December, including a man killed when his mobility scooter fell into a river in Oxford, southern England.

(25,704 posts)Other side, outside Kilrush. The family house was about three hundred yard up the coast road because the high tides/storm surges were so powerful. But there has been more and more building closer to the water and there is not a wall there (well, there is a wee one but I wonder if anyone got flooded out).
Lahinch is completely breathtaking.

(13,225 posts)and were enchanted by the scenery and fell in love with the people. We drove through Kilrush on the way to the Dingle Peninsula.
I loved Lahinch and also recommend Fanore (northern part of County Clare) and Kilkee which is south of Lahinch. I hope your Irish relatives are all safe.
