They don't charge the families and they are not-for-profit. They provide services to a few based on the donations of random strangers.
Nothing deep or profound. Just pointing out the obvious.

I think it's wonderful what they do, but why don't you ever hear cancervatives criticize it?

imaginary 'philosophy' of how the world is supposed to work - the poor (patients) are being taken care of solely by the benevolence of their (mostly Xian) benefactors. No government aid involved, no government aid needed. Just let charity take care of the out-of-luck folk. Pure Calvinism at its finest.
