Yup, our policy doesn't meet ACA standards, so we're being dropped or rolled into a new policy. STILL, after all the coverage about it on the news, there is absolutely NO MENTION of our other options under the ACA. No mention of the exchange. No mention of anything except "good-bye, or pay up." This was from Aetna, btw. Good thing my wife already shopped CT's excellent healthcare exchange site back in October.

(15,438 posts)is a giveaway to ProfitCare. If that were the case, why on god's green Earth are ProfitCare giants still fighting to misinform their customers, hoping to create the perception through cancellation letters like the one you've received that the PPACA is detrimental to the American people?

Insurance companies are gonna lose their asses on not being able to turn people down.

(15,438 posts)But I'm banking on the experts (both Democratic and Republican) who say that the PPACA is here to stay.
And considering the fact that the GOP and their moneyed masters and Wall Street are all still trying to destroy our safety net, even after all these decades, I don't see the opponents of PPACA giving up trying to over-turn President Obama's signature piece of legislation anytime soon.

What did you have through Aetna? Did you buy your own? No employer involvement?

(31,464 posts)She's a partner and office manager, but doesn't make the final decision on the insurance. She's admitted they have lousy coverage through Aetna (high deductible) but it's a small specialty practice with only six or seven employees (plus her and the doc). Unfortunately they don't do general medicine or else we'd all just go there! Since she looked at the exchange she's been saying that their practice would be better off having their employees go through the exchange and then subsidizie their premiums. Looks like that is what is going to happen.

Why the hell are we getting the letter NOW? Should have come two months ago, at least.
I just read the letter (my wife had told me about it previously). It actually says they cannot renew our employer's small business plan because of the ACA, but it will remain in effect until it is time to renew. I don't know what that date is, but my wife does since it's her plan and she's the office manager.

(11,843 posts)That's why they waited until now, IMO. The plan that Aetna wants them to be on will undoubtedly be more profitable than anything through ACA, so waiting until "after the deadline" would serve to push people to the non-ACA, more profitable plan.

(20,868 posts)My "aunt" is all pissed off about something. What is it? I had no idea BUT, she has Aetna for her supplement to Medicare. I wonder if she was pushed into something else?
I doubt she's having financial problems because of this (her late husband left her very well set), but I'm pretty sure she is really pissed off about it. As for the reality of it, who knows?
