Just in: Chris Christie cancels his only scheduled event for the day.

Yep, Chris Christie Really Jammed Jersey Traffic For Political Revenge

For months, it had been rumored: Gov. Chris Christie's office ordered a traffic jam on the Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge to screw a mayor who had reneged on endorsing the governor. Today, a smoking gun emerged in the form of a Christie deputy's one-line email:

Who thinks like this:

In one exchange of text messages on the second day of the lane closures, Wildstein alludes to messages the Fort Lee mayor had left complaining that school buses were having trouble getting through the traffic.

“Is it wrong that I’m smiling,” the recipient of the text message responded to Wildstein. The person’s identity is not clear because the documents are partially redacted for unknown reasons.

“No,” Wildstein wrote in response.

“I feel badly about the kids,” the person replied to Wildstein. “I guess.”

“They are the children of Buono voters,”

Wildstein wrote, making a reference to Barbara Buono, the Democratic candidate for governor, who lost to Christie in a landslide in November.

to win the nomination or the presidency is delusional. Remember, the Republicans were able to get Geroge W in the White House and W was arguably the stupidest man on the planet. Christie will be easy peasy.

That kind of crooked political behavior has a way of spreading and Florida seems to be the intersection point for all bad ideas. Before you know it, it will set an example and you have goons in the community egging on the city to do inspections on private property owners they don't like, or shaking him down with adverse possession claims that might spoil a sale. And if a city isn't pure as the driven snow, they just might bring in a shady city manager that can make it all happen.

It's all hypothetical, of course.

I will guarantee you she's been told someone is going to have to jump on this grenade and that someone is her. Not that she shouldn't go down, but everyone of them involved should lose their careers over these mafia style revenge tactics.

A few other names to watch for are David Wildstein top Christie executive at the Port Authority, David Samson Chairman of the Port Authority, Bill Stepien the new state GOP chairman and Christie's reelection campaign manager, and Michael Drewnaik who is Christie's spokesperson. David Wildstein is the easiest one to lay this on after Bridget Kelly, but all the rest received at least some form of communication about what was being done there.

Christie made jokes about moving traffic cones and talked about why Ft. Lee needed 3 lanes to justify the cover story of a "traffic study." Personally I think he may have known about it before hand the way he acted but at the least he was complicit in the attempted cover-up, which was a lame attempt, at that. This ends Christie's chances of a national political future. They weren't that great anyway, given the way the Republicans have been rapidly souring on him, but this kills it. And if it does come out that he had prior knowledge - which it will if he did - Bridget Kelly will make sure of that to save her own sorry butt - he won't be serving out his term as governor.

I'm not so certain Bridget Kelly will turn on Christie, not at first anyway. Not due to a sense of misplaced loyalty, but due to a sense of fear for what retaliation she'd face if she does. She's being singled out to take the fall, which may sound like the lesser of two evils to her at the moment. Lesser that is until this turns into criminal charges, which appears to be where this is heading. When she realizes that she'll sing like a canary. I suspect Christie is going to hang onto his position as governor as long as he can. I won't be surprised if they have to recall him to get him out before his time is up. What's he got to lose by staying? After all, it's like you said his chances at a national political career are over.

That will make the process quicker if it comes out he did know about. You, me and everyone else are wondering about that redacted name. Whoever that person is they somehow managed to keep their name out of the fray. In the near future they're going to have to come up with an answer so to why it was redacted at least, even if they don't say who it was.
