On my way home last night I could not believe the amount of rain we received in South Florida. This is supposed to be the "dry season". Boynton Beach had 17 inches of rain over the past 18 hours. Parts of I-95 are closed in the south end of Palm Beach County.
Up in my area, sinkholes have opened along Indian River Drive in St Lucie County - closing a main road.
I have to go to work today and my husband is begging me to stay home. It is a complete mess here.

We have the weather monitor station at our house and last night we received over 5 1/2 inches of rain. Scary day yesterday - and today it may even be worse!!

I think the odd newsreel clips in that are from the mid 1950's 30 shilling assisted passage scheme. The parents / grandparents of some of my friends who came over here then are easily distinguishable - they dress up on Sundays to go out like they're going to a wedding. So smart
There are historical reasons for the dressing up
The weather is gorgeous - cloudless blue sky.

Yup. The last two years have been rain, rain, rain.
I was in Indiana over Christmas and couldn't believe the flooding. Cars swept into rivers where there were never rivers before!
I guess when the polar ice caps melt, the water has to go somewhere.
Oh, wait! Rush and Pat have assured us that there are no polars. The earth is flat all of the extra rain will just run off the edges.
Whew! We are lucky to have such wise men amongst us.
