Ever watch a movie and say "there's no way that would happen"? It happens all the time. You just sit back and enjoy the story even as convenient plot devices move it along. Plausible or not. Its called suspension of disbelief. Buying into the theory that the GWB caper was some sort of rogue operation concocted by a loose cannon staffer and a couple of high level executives at the Port Authority acting on their own requires the same kind of mindset.
Christie is a man who began his political career by lying to his own local republican party, defamed his opponents in a primary election, used his brother's money and connections to wrangle an appointment to the U.S. Attorney's position, used that position to target political enemies, runs an absolutely disciplined administration from top to bottom that watches everything that goes on politically, uses the power of the purse strings to strong arm people to act in ways that are advantageous to him, is vindictive and mean-spirited in his actions and has publicly berated nearly every person who has dared to cross him or, in some instances, even appeared to defy him. The screaming guy with the ice cream cone in his hand on the boardwalk. A bully.
Yet this, THIS time mind you. Its all different. He doesn't run that kind of administration. This was a rogue staffer. He has tried oh so hard to be open minded and bi-partisan. He was so betrayed by close advisers and had no idea what was going on. A public inquiry that has been going on for months and he never tried to get to the bottom of it. His skilled political operation was blind-sided by this and only came to light when the Bergen Record published e-mails (that had been provided by Baroni and Wildstein mind you) that he didn't know existed before. It strains credulity.
So he'll try to bluster his way out of this. It will be entertaining. He will do or say whatever is necessary to save his own skin. Won't matter who gets hurt. And, he'll be taking names of anyone who crossed him during this episode so he can exact his revenge when and if he squirms out of this mess. And he might because people in general are used to buying into stories, no matter how implausible, if they are entertaining. But it will take setting aside your critical thinking skills. Otherwise his story just doesn't ring true.
Why is this important? Because abusive bullies need to be taken down whenever the opportunity arises. Its important because the interest groups and influences who created Christie have been using him to gain advantage by attacking unions, environmental regulations and other corporate goals with the Doomsday Device that Christie is, leaving wreckage everywhere he goes. Taking Christie down won't only be serving him his well-deserved comeuppance. It will be a blow to the Koch Brothers, the union busters, the corporations who want to control everything. Christie is their tool. Its time to take him away from them. The pieces are there to do the job. Just can't let it slip away because we don't demand our reality to be reality.
Remember the Roadrunner cartoons? As long as Christie doesn't look down he won't fall. Right?

(32,595 posts)Christie has personally initiated multiple retaliation events and always manages the cover-up and any DUer who advances some theory about "when" Christie found out about the bridge thingie is, in my mind, simply a Republican or Libertarian troll.

(2,419 posts)There's no way this originated with Bridget Kelly
There's no way Kevin O'Dowd didn't know about it
There's no way Christie didn't know what was in those emails before Wednesday
There's no way PA Chairman Samson didn't know about this
There's no way this wasn't some kind of political payback
There's no way this is the only time Christie and his administration have pulled something like this.
There's no way Christie didn't have an idea this was going on.
Believing otherwise requires you to check you brain at the door!

(29,676 posts)there was a tv show called Boss. It was a great show and I really like it even it had Kelsey Grammar...although that is what made the show so great and believable. He was the Mayor of Chicago and it showed the dirty underbelly of Christi type politics. They should bring it back so people can see how Christi operates.

Sorry, that was cheap.

(1,896 posts)This probably needs its own thread but here's an interesting break down of just how orchestrated Christie's image is. Everything is so choreographed and staged. There's no way he didn't know what's going on and his press conference yesterday was just more high theater.
You need to watch this video!

(2,419 posts)Talk about suspension of disbelief! I always thought it was an act. But I never thought it was staged. People need to see this. Puts the bully in a whole new light. I didn't think he could be more screwed up than I knew. This make me want to- I don't know. You should put this on its own thread.
