NJ.com: "The smart money says he survives the onslaught"

They are quite brief with their assessment and offer no qualifying arguments. Even at that, without a smoking gun email or verifiable testimony or other evidence placing him directly behind the bridge closure decision, I'm inclined to agree. That's if by "survives", they mean he escapes impeachment or forced resignation. His 2016 dreams are of course up in smoke regardless of what transpires.

I think NJ is stuck with Christie for some time to come.

Let me get this straight. The Wall Street Journal writes that Christie called Cuomo to complain that a NY appointed member of the Port Authority (Patrick Foye) was "pushing too hard to uncover the truth about the lane closings". But we are all supposed to believe that Christie didn't know of his staff's involvement until the day before his lengthy "press conference"? Why has no media person asked Christie to explain this? I smell a rat.

... that people want to describe the damage done to Christie as digital (1 or 0) rather than analog (a continuum) amusing at best.

He might "survive" this in that he might be able to mount a credible campaign for president. But he HAS DEFINITELY LOST VOTES, whether it be 1% or 5% or 10% is up for debate, but lots of people see what kind of man he is and will not vote for someone like that.

This MOST CERTAINLY affects his chances of winning a big race, no matter how many idiot sycophants and pea-brained pundits want to claim otherwise. he is damaged goods, period.

Here's the Christie part:
LOSERS

Chris Christie

Not a lot to say here. This one is not going away any time soon and with every new revelation Christie's fortunes take a hit. The smart money says he survives the onslaught and certainly elected officials have survived far worse, but as the email chain brings it closer and closer to his office, who knows?
